India Pale Ale first made its name in the 19th century. Here’s hoping our pioneering IPA can make its mark too.
Its fervent hoppy character hails from the unique addition of large quantities of hops at three separate points during brewing. The result is a beer that’s rounded yet refreshing, with delicate floral notes and oodles of zesty freshness.

Colour
Pale gold
Smell
Freshly mown grass, clean grapefruit and pine trees
Taste
Rich vanilla from the oak, with lots of zestness and a light bitterness from the hops
Finish
Full bodies, but still crisp and refreshing.

Kedelig og ordinær strong ale. Let bitter smag. Flot farve og pænt med skum. Ikke en øl at cykle langt efter.

Bottle, 5.8%. Mild fruity hop aroma. Clear shiny golden colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is quite bitter, slightly astringent. There is some fruity, lemony hop character. Long bitter and astringent aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours clear golden with airy but stable white head. Clear aroma of hops and malt, with touches of barrel. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with notes of needles and toast, and touches of barrel and yeast. Lingering, bitter aftertaste. Okay, drinkable but nothing really mind-blowing.

Maker: Innis & Gunn, Edinburgh (brewed at Wellpark (C&C Group)) *** Beer: Toasted Oak IPA *** Style: Old Ale/Strong Ale *** ALC.VOL.: 5.6% *** "Here’s hoping our pioneering IPA can make its mark too. Its fervent hoppy character hails from the unique addition of large quantities of hops at three separate points during brewing. The result is a beer that’s rounded yet refreshing, with delicate floral notes and oodles of zesty freshness." [brewery notes] *** Colour: Bright golden yellow, clear, with medium white head. *** Nose: Some sweet caramel maltiness, vanilla, mild floral notes, a bit of grapefruit. *** Texture: Medium body, moderate carbonation, still a bit watery & grainy. *** Taste: Warm oak notes (vanilla, toasted malts) balanced against floral and citrusy elements. More slightly sweetish vanilla in the middle, with muted citrus fruit. Malty finish, still with vanilla, but the aftertaste is dominated by citrusy and floral notes. *** Impressions: While not much of an IPA, this is very drinkable beer with interesting flavors, especially I&G’s patented vanilla notes which dominate the character of the brew as they do in other I&G beers. Hoppier, less sweeitish and more refreshing than the others, but also maybe a tad less characterful.

Bottle. Clear yellow gold pour, frothy white head. Sweet aroma, vanilla, some wood. Taste follows with a little bit of bitterness at the end. Middle of the range from I&G.

Bottle. 5.8%. Best before 04.16. Pours a clear, pale yellow, with an off-white head. Decent lacing. Dryish, hoppy aroma with a fruity note. A bit citrusy. Flavour is sweetish and hoppy with a hint of wood. Same finish, mildly bitter, with a hint of liquorice. Lingering grassy/apple note. Overall not bad, but forgettable. 21.06.15.

Robe blonde, légèrement opaque. Mousse peu. Saveurs boisées marquées. Étrange pour une IPA mais loin d’être désagréable. Saveurs d’ agrumes, herbales, épices, résineuses. Assez longue en bouche. Texture légèrement syrupeuse. Carbonatation moyenne. Une bonne IPA.

330ml bottle. Pours a clear, golden yellow with a thin, white head. Aroma has slightly sweet woody notes mixed with traditional earthy/spicy hops, slight bready/caramel maltyness. Taste is interesting. I do get a toasted wood taste mixed with spicy, classic hops, slight caramel, and a straight up malt backbone. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a fuller carbonation mouth feel and a dry finish. Overall a nice beer. More traditional in ingredients with a touch of toasted virgin wood.

330 ml bottle. Pours a hazy, pale gold with an average, short lived, white head. Sweet vanilla aroma with oak, citrus, peach and grass. Sweet, fruity, citrus flavour with vanilla, oak, grass and a light metallic, dry, bitter finish. Medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation.
