India Pale Ale first made its name in the 19th century. Here’s hoping our pioneering IPA can make its mark too.
Its fervent hoppy character hails from the unique addition of large quantities of hops at three separate points during brewing. The result is a beer that’s rounded yet refreshing, with delicate floral notes and oodles of zesty freshness.

Colour
Pale gold
Smell
Freshly mown grass, clean grapefruit and pine trees
Taste
Rich vanilla from the oak, with lots of zestness and a light bitterness from the hops
Finish
Full bodies, but still crisp and refreshing.

Pours golden with a thick white head. Soft hop notes at immediate taste with almost a vanilla cream flavor long after swallowing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Blood awful. i had stopped rating for years, but this one is bad enough to require a warning to other drinkers. The "oak" comes from oak chips, not barrel aging. It adds an artificial bubblegummy pseudo oak pseudo caramel nastiness to what otherwise would be a mediocre beer. Very little hops, very little bitterness or IPA character. The artificial flavors hide whatever malt notes might be present. This is the only IPA i ever poured down the sink. Twice, actually, since i thought that perhaps the first bottle had gone bad. Truly awful.

Bottle @ home. Aroma: Faint honey. Appearance: pours clear golden with white head. Taste: A little bitternes, very faint oak ’caramel’. Overall: Not the most interesting ’IG’ I’ve had. I miss the Oak or some heavy hops (the IPA part). Reminds med of an OK pilsner.

The aroma is floral with good notes of hops. The taste is slightly malty without special traits and soon taste the hops through a discrete and not very attractive way. The taste is toasted malt and oak storage is completely absent, and therefore sticks it completely from the name. In the aftertaste you will find maybe (if you have good patience) a little touch of oak, but as a whole it is just a usual British IPA without special touch.

Bottle, 33 cl. Clear golden body with frothy white head. Hoppy aroma with notes of citrus. Not as intense as what I have come to expect from IPAs. Somewhat dry taste with medium bitterness. A bit sour, which I do not appreciate. Light body with average carbonation. Long and bitter finish, which is quite good. I assume this is a sort of old school IPA, and it does not appeal to me in the same way that modern IPAs with more pronounced hop aromas do.

Keg at a pop up bar, St Andrews Square, Edinburgh. Putting it here as it definitely wasn’t the cask! Clear gold pour, big white head. Light smoke aromas, lager notes, faint hops. Taste is light bitter, faint smoke. Very easy drinking.

Bottle. Pours a clear pale golden with an inch of frothy white head. Aroma of malts and floral hops. Taste is somewhat sweet at first but balances out. Leaves abit of a metallic twang in the aftertaste. Light bitter, but somewhat harsh and grassy. Medium body with avg co2 levels. meh..

ALLOVATE (2652) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - AUG 21, 2015
Radiant yellow gold in body with a creamy, but thin pad of white atop. Aroma of butter, vanilla, oak, camphor and grapeskins. Mildly sugary front rams a quenching, supple fruit in the back. Soapy, buttery finish. Light film dwells upon the tongue. Astringent, grape-skin clap where hops should be, but it does have a sharp bitterness. Light, dried herb taste and feel aftertaste. Didn’t dig! (33cL, BBE 11/15, Luckies Liquor, East Vic. Park)

18 Aug 2015, bottle. yellow, clear, occasional bubbles. nose is sweet, almost smells spiced, moderate oakiness. med/thin body and mildly fizzy. still has the taste of regular inns and gunn but the oak and hops do cover this a bit. not terrible.

33 cl. bottle from NETTO poured in to a Snifter. Slightly hazy golden colour with an amber tint. Thin, white head. Fruity aroma with citrus, pines, grasses, grape and vanilla. Taste is bitter. Medium body with a creamy texture and an average carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with citrus fruits, grasses and subtle vanilla. A little bit rough around the edges - especially the bitterness. Otherwise pleasant.
