India Pale Ale first made its name in the 19th century. Hereís hoping our pioneering IPA can make its mark too.
Its fervent hoppy character hails from the unique addition of large quantities of hops at three separate points during brewing. The result is a beer thatís rounded yet refreshing, with delicate floral notes and oodles of zesty freshness.

Pale gold
Freshly mown grass, clean grapefruit and pine trees
Rich vanilla from the oak, with lots of zestness and a light bitterness from the hops
Full bodies, but still crisp and refreshing.

Pours clear, golden. Little head. Aroma is very rich, round, has notes of candyfloss. Medium body. Medium sweet. Not bitter at all. Taste-wise, I would not class this as an IPA as the brewer does. Quite tasty, nonetheless.

Clear amber, minimal head. Lots of honey on the aroma, with a bit of citrus and candy sugar. Vanilla and oak cancel out much of the harsher hoppy notes youíd expect in an IPA. Clean, nicely sweet without being sticky, and a hint of bitterness on the end. Iím not a fan of IPAs, but this is good.

330 ml bottle@home Appearance: clear yellow golden with off-white head. Aroma: grassy hops, malt. Taste: grapefruit, vanilla, mild bitter. Palate: smooth, medium bitter body, moderate carbonation. Overall: nice.

probstblueribbon (3216) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - APR 10, 2015
330 ml bottle from LCBO, served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear deep golden with a frail white head. Aroma: Light grainy maltiness, somewhat floral, light vanillin, sort of sweet-smelling, not much here. Palate: Medium body, soft, rounded carbonation. Flav.: Grainy malt again, floral notes, some wood with vanillin, a little herbal, still fairly uninteresting; dry with decent bitterness and an oddly perfumed/floral/vanillin finish.

Not for me, to put it mildly.
