Taster at Toronto Christmas Market. Pale amber-brown pour. Sweet oaky/vanilla aroma with a little bit of molasses like character. Light bodied with a touch of spice and black pepper. A distinct fruitiness especially as it warms up. Pretty nice on a cold afternoon like this one.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 shaynsawchuk (180) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 6, 2012
330 mL bottle. Pours a dark amber, looks light for a porter. A finger of beige head dissipates quick with minimal lacing. Aromas of malted wheat, molasses. Oak and vanilla on the palate with a touch of hops, dry cherries and a bit of cola. Medium carbonation and body. Slighty sweet finish.

Bottle. Dark copper and light head look thin for a porter. Can smell the signature I&G oak. Flavour is sweet caramel with a little dark molasses in the back. Smooth.

Bottle. Pours a ruby red color with a beige head and doesn’t look like a Porter at all. The aroma is of light oak, treacle, toasted nuts, toasted malt, dark fruits and fruit cake. The flavor follows the nose with light oak, lots of dark fruit and fruit cake, toasted nuts and malt, light oak, treacle and subtle winegum notes. The body is light with a kind of silky mouth feel. Overall a solid brew, but not a Porter at all, more like a English Strong Ale or something like that.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (3388) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 3, 2012
330ml clear bottle pours amber in color with a finger of off-white head that settles quite quickly leaving some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is vanilla with caramel and a hint of roasted grains. Taste is predominantly caramel with hints of chocolate and vanilla with a light roasted grain bitterness. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. A decent brew for the style and recommended as it is easy to drink and makes a good session ale.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ingevara (714) - SWEDEN - DEC 3, 2012
Small head. Clear reddish fluid with a matured sweetness onthe grainy side. Hoppy and malty, apparent alcohol level. Some yeast, some vanilla. Too small bottle.

Pours a dark amber red. Little to no head. Aroma is raisins, fruit, chocolate. A very tasty and complex beer. Another good one by innis and gunn.

First of all this isn’t a porter, no fucking way. Secondly, it’s actually a decent beer. Raisins, toffee, burnt caramel and alcohol - a nice winter warmer.

Bottled. Pours dark amber with a small white head. Smells burbon, nutty, sweet and abit vanilla. Tastes cheesy, nutty, alcohol, fruity raisins. Is this really a porter?
