16.9 oz bottle from Evergreen Discount. Deep, dark brown with a lasting off-white head. Sweet and malty aroma with caramel, bready malts, chocolate, sugar and a light tang. Similar flavor with a medium body and a sweet finish. Not bad, probably been on the shelf for a while, though.

Location: 500 ml bottle from State Line, 4/24/13

Aroma: Has a fairly sweet nose with some bready malts/pumpernickel, fruity notes, and caramel
Appearance: Pours a dark reddish-brown color, with a small beige head and some drippy lace
Flavor: The taste is sweet as well, bready and malty, fairly fruity, and without much bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it drinks pretty smoothly and easily, with a bit of stickiness to it
Overall Impression: I thought this was a tasty beer. It is quite sweet, but not to the point of being cloying or undrinkable. This is just some solid stuff. I don’t have too many complaints.

Pour is a cola brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice dark bread with some raison and other dark fruit. Flavor is a little watery but some dark malts and a slight bittering show up. Flavor after the swallow is typical dopple dank maltyness. Decent beer and maybe a beginner example of the style.

A half finger of tan head on a dark copper colored body. The aroma is fresh bread, caramel, burnt wood and licorice. The taste is mild bitterness with a ton of malt sweetness middle to end. Rye bread and licorice too. Good but fairly sweet. Crisp texture with moderate carbonation. The finish is a little sticky.

Tap. Pours cloudy brown with a large creamy beige head that dissipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is grain and bready/toasty caramel. Flavor about the same, medium sweet and lightly grassy bitter. Body is medium.

0.33 l bottle. Clear mahogany colour, on top a creamy beige head, which laces. Somewhat dried fruity nose. Malty aroma escorted by molasses, toastt and dough with gently alcohol and herbs in the background. Dry and long warming finish with toasted malt and spices. Enjoyable one.

Bottle @ Pivni Rozmaniost, Prague. Pours ruby amber with a small creamy white head and lacings. Fruit, good layer of caramel, bread and a whiff of alcohol. Sweet and smooth. Warming alcohol in the end. Nice.

MacArthur Beverages 500ml ($4): Pours a reddish brown color with an off-white head. Aroma is dark fruit and stuff. Something is amiss with the taste though. I am not sure if there is quite enough of it. Some sweetness. Some roastiness. But really not enough interesting stuff going on. The later sips got better than the earlier sips, but still this doppelbock does not stand out very much.

bottle. clear mahogany body, thin off-white head. buttered biscuit, caramel and plum wine nose with notes of butyric acid and pennies. not exactly infected or heavily oxidized, which is what i was expecting from the nose. mild butter and metallic notes with a stale tobacco and plum malt sweetness, low acid, low bitterness, thin body, noticeable alcohol. finishes thin and pasty with creamed caramel popcorn notes. sadly, bad stuff throughout.

Light brown clear color with a mild caramel cola aroma. Sweet malty flavor this is not as strong as most other doublebocks ive had and lacking the palate complexity
