500ml Bottle: Sweet aroma of malt, toasting, bread, and nuts. Poured deep amber/brown in color with s tiny, off-white/tan head that greatly diminished but lasted around the edges. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malt, honey, toasting, and nuts. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Malt, toast, nut, honey finish.

500 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, lasting, light beige head, over a clear, light brown (SRM 20) body....nose is sweet, with raisin, fig, plum tones, bit of brown sugar, toffee/ caramel....taste is light sweet, with raisin, fig, plum, finishing with a slight bitterness.....mouth feel medium, slightly sticky, carbonation adds a foamy quality. This meets its style quite well. The malts dominate, with the hops only minimally present. This is not as complex nor as rich as the very best, but it is quite good. BJCP 7/3/13/4/7

Test vom 7.3.2009, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Bottle @ home. Dark orange/brown appearance with a cream colored head. Quite sweet, caramel malty, a touch nutty, bock aroma. Very sweet, hazelnutty, caramel, quite malty lager flavor. Caramel aftertaste. Solid Doppelbock but not super special.

12/11/12/10/9/10

Clear mahogany with a creamy an lace - nose of toffee, raisin, bread pudding - fairly creamy and smooth mouthfeel - sweet, rich maltiness, with notes of date, treacle, caramelized sugars - a bit of a harsh acidity near the end, but it subsides quickly - lingering toasted grains and toffee sweetness - decent.

Bottle from German Deli, Sacramento. Pours dark brown wth a rich beige head and a toffee aroma. There is a robust treacle and dark malt flavor with a dry bitter finish. A bit harsh, but otherwise quite drinkable.

Pours turbid deep brown with 3-finger uniform off-khaki head. Nose is earthy brown sugary malt, figgy fruit, hops. Tastes rich, creamy, caramelly, with some brown sugar and toffee notes, and even mild cacao and coffee late.

A: The pour is a slightly muddy dark brown color with some reddish notes and a finger or tan head that settles down to a thin layer. S: A surprising amount of chocolate on the nose. Sweet milk chocolate and caramel along with plenty of dark fruit and a touch of cola. A mild roast and a nice creamy vanilla smell. Nice and sweet, really quite good. T: The flavor doesn’t quite match up with the quality of the nose. Sweet and malty, but there’s a little bit of an astringency. Lots of raisins and some other fruit flavor I can’t quite pinpoint. Mild toast and roast qualities, and a hint of alcohol. M: Medium to full in body with a creamy carbonation. O: Good nose and great mouthfeel, but slightly lacking in flavor.
