4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 micronaut129 (87) - chalfontborotowntonville, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 21, 2012
Pours a really really deep chestnut brown. A tall tan fluffy head is produced when poured into a glass of some sort. I really didn’t take notice of any carbonation. I forgot.
As far as schwarze goes very rich and malty with a slight roasted malt asppect and molasses hints.
Taste is rich and velvetty with a deep malty taste with hints of roasted malts and molasses. It drinks on the fuller side of medium with a clean finish. I picked this up on a wim at the beer store and I’m glad i did, it’s a fantastic example of a schwarzebier. You can read extra here as imperial. The beer drank smooth and with a big full flavor. You could throw in some pumpernil too in there. Compare it to an Einbecker.

The flavor has a little touch of roasted malts, with some dried fruits, caramel hints and some fresh fruits. Medium body, quite dry, and smooth on the carbonation. Roasted and bitter finish. Overall, a quite nice one, although not overly interesting. 120217
