scrizzz (576), kirkland, Washington, USA Jan 6, 2009 Bit of a damp aroma, little bit of wet mildewy cardboard. Still, there’s some dry wheat and a bit of lemon there too. Very clear pale yellow, only got some haze and a darker shade after I swirled the yeast up. Plenty of lasting head. Drainpour. Here’s where the cardboard comes in, like the beer was just plain old. I can’t read German, is this pasteurized? That would explain the dead flat depressing flavor. Bleh. shrubber85 (2598), COB Speicher, Iraq Sep 27, 2008 Swing-top bottle. Banana, clove and sour wheat malt aroma. Cloudy yellow amber color . Stale wheat malt flavor with light banana and clove notes. Decent - probably much better fresh. Beerdedone (1663), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 27, 2008 Sampled at state line tasting on 9-11. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma of bananas, wheat, and mild spices. Very smooth flavor of wheat, bananas, pale malts, and notes of clove. medium body with a clean and crisp finish Cornfield (4469), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 20, 2008 I think I picked this up at the Binny-apostrophe-s in Orland Park, IL. Poured into a Hefeweizen glass, it displayed a hazy yellow/straw body with a tall ampersand retained creamy head that laced heavily. Very highly carbonated. There were plenty of fresh bananas in the nose anlong with soft wheat malt and lemon. The flavor saw the addition of a light touch of clove and even more lemon. It finished on the somewhat bitter note of citrus rind. Pretty refreshing beer. EithCubes (1901), Indiana, USA Sep 7, 2008 Swing-top bottle. Malty wheat nose, actually detecting a ton of banana for once, with vanilla creme, yeast, and faint clove. Hazy pale golden pour with a tall, picture-perfect rocky white head. Again, banana creme pie flavor, could do with some tartness, but otherwise very drinkable and free of offenders. Very smooth, silky smooth medium body and a dryish, wheaten end. Actually more of a light body with the extra from the yeast. Deft touches of spice and lemon evident with some volume. Well crafted and doubtless qualifies for the upper tier, but far from mind-bending.
