Svesse (1591), Hässelby, Sweden May 3, 2008 (Cask at Ye Grapes, Mayfair, London, 25 April 2008) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity nose with apricots, oranges and sulphur. Fruity, malty taste with notes of toffee, orange, apricots, nuts and malt syrup. Sweetish, with a slightly artificial malt character. On the macro side.
martinboer (1301), Amsterdam, Netherlands Jul 15, 2008 Updated: Jul 22, 2008On tap at Ye Grapes, London. Gold body, slight head. Watery and not much taste. Slight hops in the finish. Dissapointing after trying some excellent microbrews earlier in the evening. FatPhil (2012), Espoo, Finland Nov 13, 2007 Cask (The Anchor, Cambridge)
I’ve had some dodgy ones of this in my time, but this was surprisingly good. Dark copper coloured, thin head. Nutty and malty aroma. Taste to match, nuts joined with wood too. Rather flat. Very solid bitter. Rastacouere (5226), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Sep 19, 2007 Cask. Clear orange to amber pour wearing a fine off-white head with good lacing. Kinda oily, flowery nose bearing mostly leafy aromas. Obviously focusing on bitterness more than aromatics. Orangey, biscuity palate with a mild toastiness. Fruity, generic malts. Just simplistic and sweetish in the end, the hops promises never get through. The bitterness does not slice through the sweetness. Light-medium bodied, little carbonation at all. oh6gdx (5443), Vaasa, Finland Aug 29, 2007 Cask@The Chamberlain. Copper coloured, not much head. wooden fruity and slightly spicy thing. Flavour is quite the same along with big woodenness.
