radiomgb (1776), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jan 28, 2008 Very dark purple in colour, no head, alcohol legs. The aroma is very sweet, vinous, lots of blackcurrants, honey, floral as well. The flavour is vinous, very fruity, only some light alcohol which was surprising, very sweet blackcurrants, light honey, a bit dry. Dry and sweet mouthfeel, medium body, mild carbonation. Finishes quite long and very sweet, lots of warming alcohol. Not bad, lots of currants and the alcohol comes out more at the very end, straight forward.
500ml bottle obtained in a trade with piscator34, thanks Kris.
Received back in August 2005 and opened on November 28, 2007.

tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 18, 2006 Strong blackcurrant and curious grapes in the aroma over plenty of musty honey. Clear, deep, dark, reddish purple like a nice thick red wine with decent legs on the glass. Musty honey flavour with plenty of fruit character. Alcohol is fairly apparent. Dessert wine like thickness to the texture and strong alcohol warming. Rastacouere (5409), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jun 27, 2006 Purple colour with pink reflects, still and displaying fat legs. Strong alcoholic, immensely sweet fruity nose (blueberries, grapes) dominates the honey character, but the underlying oiliness can’t hide its origins. Vinous palate, quite growing on the honey which grows quite metallic and drier toward the finish. Not very complex and overall not really serving a purpose, like the raspberry. muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jun 10, 2006 Sample from the bottle (375 ml) at the Mondial de la Bière in Montreal, 2006. Immensely thick and lasting lacing/legs coating the glass in intricate webbing atop a thick, dark purple-red body....gorgeous aroma, super-sweet cassis and spicy buckwheat, dark tannic grapes, only faint honey.....body is fairly alcoholic, somewhat reminiscent of brandy, syrupy sweetness is balanced by some nice tartness in midpalate and some less pleasant mineralic bitterness late....a mixed bag but overall worth a try. piscator34 (938), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada May 9, 2005 Pinkish-purple in colour. Aromas of freshly crushed wild berries and clover. The flavors are tart and semi-sweet. The fruit is not overly cassis- like, perhaps a bit more like cranberry. The straight-up mead flavors becomre more dominant on the back end. The body is light, creating a somewhat refreshing sensation. Not overly complex, but very drinkable.
