4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours pitch black. Aroma is maple syrup, coffee, oak, vanilla. Taste follows suit. All of the powerful flavors of the original truck stop are beautifully melded together and balanced by the barrel. Thick mouth feel. This was a winner. They should bottle this even before the underdark.

On tap at Underdark release day 2013. Pours a dark mahogany hued black on tap with good tan head and light lacing. Aroma of smoky must, sweet maple syrup, coffee, dark chocolate, and vanilla and wood from the barrel. Taste is sweet and dark chocolates, smokiness and wood from the barrel, exquisitely balanced, with a thick mouth and a smooth finish. This beer was fantastic, a real treat.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
11/17/12. On tap at the anniversary party. Rich black pour with a nice khaki head. Light smoke, chocolate, and sweetness in the aroma with a subtle touch of wood. Sweet chocolate and light smoke in the flavor again with a light touch of the barrel character. Not bad.
