2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at some swank restaurant whose name I canít remember, JAX. At least itís local. But for all the yummy, well made craft from this brewery I was fortunate to sample, this one was perilously close to BMC. Grainy, a bit oily, not much kolsch character.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Can marked Jon Boat Coastal Ale.
Slightly hazy gold body that throws up a creamy off-white head.
Dusty malt aroma. Floral hops..
Very little flavor, very light and refreshing, but too much like water. Not unpleasant, just nothing here.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
A crisp, clean taste that starts slightly sweet and finishes with a mild bite. Light in color, a bit heavier than a lager in mouthfeel, and mildly flavored. A great session beer for the craft enthusiast.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep yellow pour with fluffy white head and lace. A light floral hop aroma and a touch of sweet maltiness. Light sweet start before finishing dry with a decent bitter. I should have had this beer first on this day.

12oz bonus can courtesy of markwise. The can states Coastal Ale and makes no reference to Kolsch. Interestingly I just had another American crafted Kolsch that missed the style by a country mile and here we have something that doesnít. The can pours out with a clear gold body that supports a nice looking semi dense off white head of foam. The mild aroma offers up snippets of minerals, earthy to spicy hops and a vague hop bitter note. The taste is smooth sessionable crispness. The modest notes of sweet malts, touch of biscuit malts, faint lime and sort of vague hop bitterness leaning toward citrus all go just so well together. I get a pleasing lingering mild hoppiness that seems vaguely citrus hanging on into the after taste. Nice Kolsch.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Intuition, RBWG. Clear straw yellow with a small fizzy white head. Nose is light biscuit malt, grainy, light grass. Flavor is similar, but errs on the grainy side. Meh.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft to taster at Intuition. Looks solid; a fairly transparent gold with white lacing. Smells and tastes like a decent Kolsch with a nice, snappy finish. Decent.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy white colored bubbles that were and left behind a softly carbonated transparent golden orange colored body. The mild aroma was astringent and malt hop. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of astringent hops and malt. An OK brew just nothing special.
