3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 GT2 (3970) - USA - NOV 28, 2011
Tap at Intuition. Poured a clear cola with a large tan head. Great formation and retention. Sticky rings and full sheets of lace. Sweet berry nose with light vinegar. Taste is thinner, ashy, muted cocoa powder. Too thin for porter...more like overly roasted brown ale. Very inferior to the blackberry version, which covered up the deficiencies of the base beer.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 juiceisloose (1048) - Windermere, Florida, USA - FEB 11, 2012
Growler courtesy Jlo7399. This one pours a hazy dark brown color and topped by a thin head of tan colored foam that settles slowly to a thin film and leaving rings of lacing around the glass. The aroma shows notes of dark cocoa, toasted oats, and roast all atop a toasted caramel malt base. The flavor follows suit with the dark cocoa, roast, and toasted oats up front and balanced nicely by the toasted caramel malt sweetness. Medium bodied with good carbonation that leads to a lengthy, roasty finish. This is very sessionable at the 5% abv, but it is a touch thin in the palate for the style. Pretty good stuff though and a tasty little porter.

Pint at the brewery taproom after the CASK brewclub meeting on Nov 12. ABV posted on the blackboard in the taproom was 5.5% Dark brown/black beer with a small beige head. Flavors of coffee and chocolate with just a bit of sweetness. A fairly good porter. Enjoyable.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Jlo7399 (169) - Florida, USA - OCT 26, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 28, 2011 Poured at the brewery. Jet black with thin white head with long lasting lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, a little smoky, and a hint of sweetness. Taste is heavy roasted malts which gives a smoky/coffee flavor that leads into some chocolaty sweetness as it warms. Palate is a little fizzy which is a surprise, but doesn’t detract from the beer. Finish is clean. Really amazing beer. At only 5% this one can be consumed all night.
