3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 hopscotch (8215) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 4, 2013
UPDATED: MAY 8, 2013 Draft... RBWG 2013...Tar black pour with a small, lightly-tanned head. Great retention. The nose is a blend of dark chocolate, toasted tree nuts and only whispers of rye graininess and spiciness. Full-bodied with laid-back carbonation. The flavor is a mélange of dark chocolate, acrid smoke, burnt malts and light acidity. Lengthy, acrid, moderately bitter finish.

Tap at Intuition, RBWG. Pours a muddy dark brown with a small sudsy beige head. Nose is nutty, earthy, light peppercorn, miniscule rye. Flavor is similar, hard to decipher the spice from the rye and pepper. Found that the hops took a bit of backseat in this one.

On tap at GABF 2011. Pours a almost pure black color with a medium white head. A sweet nose of caramel, rye, some hops in there competing. The flavor is very nice; rich robust spicy rye, some caramel, toasted malts, a bit thin. Very smooth. Nice.
