Pint at the brewery tap room. Dark mahogany/black beer. Citrus and roast in the aroma. Prickly citric hops paired with the roasted malts and coffee flavors. Centennial makes its presence known but not so brightly as in The Face. Its a very tasty combination. Really excellent. I loved it.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the tap room in Jacksonville. Dark black pour, sticky off-white head, good lacing. Aroma of freshly ground black earth, a hint of spruce. Flavor has a hint of licorice, some earthy fresh black dirt, a hint of coffee and some subtle citrus bitterness. Mouthfeel is thick enough. Pretty solid.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours deep brown/black with tan head, great retention on the lacing. Nose is piney hops but begins to sweeten as it warms. Taste is citrus hops as well as a nice roasted maltiness. Mouthfeel is thicker than expected. Very enjoyable.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Intuition. Thick sheets of complete tan lace remain atop a deep, muddier mahogany pour. Roasted Carafa malt nose with excellent piney and kumquat hops. As it warms, gaining excellent hazelnut dark chocolate in the nose. Taste is spot on- thicker stout body with an onslaught of kumquat peel bitterness. Sharper carbonation makes sure you know this is Black IPA and not a heavier stout. Thick, bitter roast. Continuing onslaught of bitter chocolate and bitter citrus hop playoff. Mildly lactic palate provides and excellent, long finish. Clean. Really good stuff.
