4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Happy Birthday to me Beer -- Batch two: Poured into a tulip with light brown one inch thick head, color is opaque brown. Aroma is strong bourbon with black licorice and roasted malt. Flavor is the same with a little bit of a bitterness at the end from hops. Also, detecting vanilla, heavy vanilla on further sips, as it warms I start to detect a tobacco flavor. Overall I am very pleased with Intuitions swing at my favorite style. I hope they continue to attempt and improve upon this.

Sweeter than king street, this is a pretty great imperial stout. Dangerously addictive. Need more.

Bottle @ GT’s Cat Cabana. Thanks to Dr. Owl for this one. Black our with no head to speak of. Bourbon, vanilla, and brown sugar. Some chocolate, molasses, and a bit of dark fruit on the nose. Lightly vinous. Flavor is nicely sweet and fairly heavy on the bourbon/barrel. Some vanilla, brown sugar, and chocolate cake. A bit of molasses and dark fruit sweetness as well. Light roasted malt flavor. Pretty decent.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thanks GT2! Dark black pour with creamy tan head, aroma brought nice dark chocolate, vanilla, some oatmeal notes, nice sweet oak, bourbon in there, nice hints of spice, touch of coffee. Taste is a mix of mocha, dark chocolate, sweet cocoa powder, nice oak, vanilla, and bourbon compliments well, finishing fairly sweet, but nice and dry.

Big thanks to Drowland for hooking me up with a bottle of this ! Pours a rich creamy black color with a three finger mocha rich foam. On the nose its soft yet boozy with nice ovaltine, bourbon, vanilla, milk chocolate, cocoa puff notes. The palate is well balanced with great integration between barrel notes and smooth stout flavors. Very easy to drink with solid flavors throughout. Glad I had the pleasure of drinking and sharing !

22 ounce bottle shared at Hunhapu day, poured a dark brown color with aromas of bourbon, light wood, some vanilla, chocolate, and some mocha. Flavors are the same, blended very nicely, wish I had a bottle of this, this was a very solid beer. thanks to the person who shared this one.

Tap at the brewery during RBWG 2013. Pours clear brown with a fine, beige cream head. Pretty tasty stuff overall, medium to big sweetness but not cloying, light woody dryness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Pretty clean for such a big boy. Good bourbon and cocoa. I like it.

Draft... RBWGJAX2013... Pours black with a mid-sized, creamy, cappuccino head. Good retention. The aroma is a swirl of coconut, vanilla and fudge. Full-bodied and velvety with airy carbonation. The bold, acrid flavor supplies intertwined notes of burnt mocha and blackstrap molasses. There is a long, slow fade of the hearty flavors rather than an abrupt finish. In my book, this brew pulls up just shy of being world class. Excellent!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz, purple waxed bottle, via trade. pours a deep, dark brown with garnet highlights that sits black in the glass capped by a whispy beige head. aroma is truly excellent, right up my alley, with big, sweet barrel notes of vanilla, graham crackers, brown sugar, and spice cake backed by chocolate icing, roast, and light espresso. flavor is delicious as well with the dark chocolate, roast, and expresso notes of the stout taking a front seat to the subtle notes of toasted barrel, vanilla beans, bourbon, and brown sugar with a touch of dry pecans on the back end. palate is a touch thinner than i’d like but still holds up very well with light carbonation and a hint of warmth. overall, this beer was a great use of those woodford barrel and is damn tasty.
