Tap at the brewery during RBWG 2013. Pours clear brown with a fine, beige cream head. Pretty tasty stuff overall, medium to big sweetness but not cloying, light woody dryness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Pretty clean for such a big boy. Good bourbon and cocoa. I like it.

Draft... RBWGJAX2013... Pours black with a mid-sized, creamy, cappuccino head. Good retention. The aroma is a swirl of coconut, vanilla and fudge. Full-bodied and velvety with airy carbonation. The bold, acrid flavor supplies intertwined notes of burnt mocha and blackstrap molasses. There is a long, slow fade of the hearty flavors rather than an abrupt finish. In my book, this brew pulls up just shy of being world class. Excellent!

Tap at Intuition and later lots of pours from a growler. Far and away the best beer Intuition has made to date save for their Anniversary IPA, Underdark is essentially bourbon barrel King Street Stout. The pour is deep cola looking black with a healthy, creamy tan head. Nice swathes of lace. Nose is fruity berries, lacto sugar, milk chocolate. Needs to warm up a bit. Taste is very silky, lots of rich bourbon and chocolate ganache. No booziness or oak tannins. Spent just the right amount of time in the barrel. Rich, beautiful, fuller body. Great stuff. I recommended this one to a two different people who walked into the brewery taproom and both said it was the best beer they had ever had in their life. Well, itís certainly the best beer ever made in Jacksonville, FL so kudos to Ben et al for the masterpiece.

12/7/11. Growler thanks to Tim! Black pour, maybe dark brown under light, under a small tan head that sticks. Rich aroma of milk chocolate and a touch of coffee with alcohol, a bit of bourbon, and cinnamon/spice of some sort. Slightly sour flavor at first with lingering chocolate and coffee. Time shows milk chocolate and a hint of barrel character, but itís subtle. Not bad!

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thanks GT2! Dark black pour with creamy tan head, aroma brought nice dark chocolate, vanilla, some oatmeal notes, nice sweet oak, bourbon in there, nice hints of spice, touch of coffee. Taste is a mix of mocha, dark chocolate, sweet cocoa powder, nice oak, vanilla, and bourbon compliments well, finishing fairly sweet, but nice and dry.
