very good The_Captain (251), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 22, 2008 Bottle - Dark amber brown pour with a foam then simmering off-white head. Sweet malt hoppiness takes you through this one from start to finish. Earthy notes with some fruit dryness to the end. Warm this one up a little to give it some character. MakeItDrinkIt (50), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 14, 2008 Amber color beer with a medium off-white head. Aroma is lightly hoppy - unusual for this style, and slight malt. Flavor is also a bit on the hoppy side for a Scotch Ale, and a touch bitter. A very nice and well-made beer, but not quite what I had expected. douglas88 (641), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Jul 7, 2008 Updated: Jul 8, 2008Bottle drank at the Bayou. Pours a copper body with a thick white head. The aroma is mostly tons of caramel malt. The taste was very surprising; a powerful mix of caramel and malt, fairly sweet, along with a very bitter grapefruit hop presence. Great creamy mouthfeel. A real winner. Very flavorful and tasty. The most hops I’ve had in a Scotch Ale. nearbeer (1101), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 24, 2008 500 ml, bb Sept 2010. Hazy copper with a small but lasting creamy head. Spicy, earthy, caramel apple nose. Flavor is initially the same, with more earthy peat showing up later. Medium body is a nice balance of water vs. syrup and finishes smartly dry.
