3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A solid dark amber with a slight haze. Off white head vanishes quickly but leaves good lacing in the glass. Aroma is certainly malty, slightly roasted, some sweetness and a tiny hint of plummy fruit. Taste is brackish, like a stoked up Burton malt mixed with brown sugar. Aged fruit still evident, some hops there but subdued. Finish lingers well and is pleasant. Pretty good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a beatiful clear dark amber color with a well lasting white head with a hint of orange color in it. The nose has a dry basement-like aroma with some cream, rapeseed and caramel notes. Taste is sweet with some nutty notes and a mildly dry but long finish. Carbonation is average and the palate feel rich and thick. Very nice!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle on the train from Inverness to Hereford, from Tomlinsons the Ness, 21/10/13.
Dark amber with a good sized light beige head.
Nose is toffee, bready malts, dark fruit tang, dates, fruit loaf.
Taste comprises brown sugars, dates, Xmas cake, dark fruit mash up, brown bread, Soreen malt loaf.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, sweetish finale.
Ok stuff - comes across as a Belgian Dubbel type of affair.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled, 500ml from Glencoe Village Co-Op, Highlands, Scotland. Copper with ruby hue and off white head. Sweet malts dominate initially, reasonably clean in character although there is an odd plastic perfumey note going on. Sweetish toffee, caramel, some leafy hop but little bitterness. Reasonable enough.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. It pours a more or less clear body, dark amber in color and with a minimal sized off-white head. There’s a lot of dried fruits in the aroma, with toffee and a faint note of paint remover. Some bitterness in the flavor, far from as much as I get the impression there would be judging from the description, but at least enough to prevent it from being cloying. There’s some higher alcohol or paint remover in the mouth as well, a bit more than in the aroma actually, and especially in the end. There’s toffee sweetness, some nuts and dried fruits as well. It’s full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated. The finish is quite dry, even though the sweetness can be felt, guess the alcohol and bitterness does their bit of palate cleaning. Overall, I would like this much better without the paint remover touch, as it’s a quite pleasant one if you manage to ignore that. 131119

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.5 bottle. Coppery color with a red tinge and an off-white, creamy head on top. Malty aroma, some caramel, alcohol and a touch of coffee with nuts. Somewhat bitter taste composed of dark fruits, caramel, nuts and traces of chocolate with spices. Medium body, creamy texture and soft carbonation. Finish is relatively long, as bitter as the taste and emphasizes the dark fruits even more. Overall a good beer, quite drinkable and climatic.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Couleur rouge opaque avec un petit col tan. Un arôme prononcé de fruits avec un peu de malt et un peu de scotch. L’arôme est beaucoup plus forte que la saveur, ce qui est de malt, un peu de douceur que de caramel, et du scotch.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Third of a pint at the Great British Beer Festival 2013. Red-brown with little head to speak of. Fruity, smooth, with a hint of alcohol menace. Nice red fruit aroma, but a bit boozy. Nice and clean, but certainly has no business being in a pint glass!
