A dark beer with a well balanced sweetness, malt and chocolate tones. Challenger, Fuggles and Cascade hops produce a rich and spicy aroma with a balanced bitterness and full-bodied flavour.

On keg at Teuchters. Appearance - toffee coloured with quite a fla5 head Nose - toffee and some nuts. Taste - more of the same. Palate - medium bodied with a rich texture and a relatively balanced finish. A little sweet but xan live with that. Overall - better than I’d remembered. Really not bad at all. Premium bitter with a hint of Scotch Ale going on.

A rather timid malty and nutty scent with a hint of alcohol. The taste is similar to the aroma initially, but finishes with a nice bitter hoppiness coupled with some roast as well. "Distinctively rich" is accurate, but not overwhelmingly so.

500ml bottle at home. Pours copper red, nice off-white head. Aromas of butterscotch, malt and toffee. Taste is nicely bitter. Finishes thin and watery.

Dark amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma is quite blank. Some nuts and burnt malt in it. A little bit too sweet for my taste despite decent bitterness. Normal beer - nothing too special.

No particular smell other then you would expect of this kind of beer. It’s n ot as dark as a guiness, but smells alike. Nutty in taste, but also caramel and dark chocolate.

DWG; Pours clear, dark amber with creamy tan head. Aroma and taste is light roasted malt, caramell with hints of fruity and citrus hopps. Light body, sticky texture with a short bitter finish.

[cask, The Baillie, Edinburgh] Coppery brown coloured beer with a small white head. Aroma is slightly nutty, with some cereal. Decent, rising bitter finish on the taste, not too bad at all. Some chocolate in there, just around the edges [03112013]
