A dark beer with a well balanced sweetness, malt and chocolate tones. Challenger, Fuggles and Cascade hops produce a rich and spicy aroma with a balanced bitterness and full-bodied flavour.

From a 500ml bottle on 7/1/2015. Pours a cloudy amber with a small head. The nose is subdued, with a minerally aroma most evident with a hint of toasted malt. In the mouth, you find more pronounced toasted malt, some citrus fruit and a really firm, quite salty, bordering on harsh, bitterness. Has a light body and average carbonation. I couldn’t really take to this one. The flavours are not particularly balanced or harmonious, with the bitterness actually a little unpleasant.

Brown clear body, fawn persistent tight head, rich crocheted and thick rimmy lacing. Aroma; fruity malts, berries, orange peels, wort, juicy hops, earthy malts, advanced malted candies. Taste; smoky malts, roasted malts, dusty hops, spicy hops, herbal chocolate notes. Finishes with dusty hops and malts with bitter touches. Feels normal bodied and softly carbonated. Overall a tasty beer, "Lia Fail" is recommended. [50cl brown bottle, abv4.7%, #L2703 1449, BB:SEP14, T@höme]

Lovely biscuity beer and a near perfect example of a great malty Scottish ale. Great balance of sweetness and bitterness with a wee hop kick at the end. Almost stout flavours on the tounge and the palate with herbs and slight raisiny vanilla butterscotch tones. Looks good too, liquid caramel. Brilliant beer!

Bottle from a Glasgow ASDA. Pours ruby with a cream head. The taste is nutty with chocolate notes. There’s a bit of spice too. A good tasty ale.
