3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask HP at The Crosse Keys as Inveralmond Lia Fail, 4.7%. Dark amber orange, translucent, still, foamy tan head endures and leaves thick lacing. Aroma is airy, bread, fig biscuits, hot cross buns. Body is fairly light, well conditioned, smooth. Taste is bread and resin, twiggy, smooth drinking, malt-led, a floral aftertaste which lasts for ages. Rock solid example of the style. Good.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma of malt, toffee and vanilla. Tastes initial bitterness followed by a nice roasted malt character, sweet caramel, hints of dark chocolate/coffee and then a nice sweet malt /bitter finish. Well balanced and very nice for the style. One of the best bitters Iíve tried.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle from First Choice Liquor with BB of 1/16. Filtered copper coloured pour with a just off white foamy head and decent lace. Nose and taste is malt driven (caramel, bread, a hint of nuts) with an earthy dry hop finish. Palate is smooth and softly carbonated with a light-medium body and balanced flavours. Not the strongest ESB but still good.
