3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MartinT (6350) - Montreal, - JAN 10, 2007
Any first impressions?
-A tight head of foam creates wondrous lacing atop the clear golden hues.
-Crunchy, wheaty cereals rise along with fruity aromatic hops.
-Rich cereals and citrusy hops combine for a flavorful and satisfying gulp.
-The perfectly low, supporting carbonation leaves a lot of room for the wealthy mouthfeel to be exposed.
What if you dig deeper?
-The flavors are quite intense for such a low gravity brew, and still manage to remain balanced.
-The muscular wooden hop bitterness (for the style) also brings along some dryness.
-A great ale which showcases more than sufficient malt to chew on, and plenty of boastful hoppiness for the hopheads to be quenched.
On cask at the Halfway House, Edinburgh.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - JAN 30, 2012
First tasted this at the Fox & Hounds, Houston in January 1998. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale garnet in colour with a thin creamy white head. Dry dusty hop flowers in the short aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt gives a dry, almost ginger bread base note with raisin fruit and marmalade notes. Dusty, earthy flavours from the hop resins give a dry bitter aftertaste. Finish is slightly malty with a dry, woody cask note redolant on the palate. An ok session Golden Ale and worth trying.

Cask at GBBF, 2011.
Dark golden one with a small creamy head. Moderated aroma with yeast, light floral hop, fruits like green apples. Malty flavor profile with light fruity tones, some salt in the taste, light hop makes the aftertaste dry.

On cask at The Golf Tavern. A deep golden colour with a medium white head. Aroma of caramel and yeast with peppery and grassy hop notes. Flavour of chewy caramel, yeast and barley. Some lingering spice, pepper and grassy hops. Also an odd naan bread quality to finish.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 AshtonMcCobb (937) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 25, 2011
Cask @ Golden Rule. Pours dark golden with a good head. The nose is floral and fruity - apples and raisins. The taste does have a raisin note but is more malt dominated. The palate is good at the start - light to medium in body with a good texture. but unfortunately there is a malty overhang at the end, where there should be hops. Overall, a decent ale, though nothing special.

[cask at SRAF’11] Light amber pour with a decent white head. Bitter, biscuity aroma with some fruity parts to the nose. Malt plays a large role on the taste, the sweet biscuit flavours lead into a slightly soapy aftertaste as the hops try and establish themselves. Decent enough, however [16062011]

Hand pulled cask at Sandy Bell’s in Edinburgh. Pale gold with a creamy white head. Lovely low gravity beer with punchy citruss hop profile.

Cask Conditioned handpump Malt Shovel Northampton. A golden beer with a whitish head and lacing. Sweet toffee and grassy hops in the mouth with a surprisingly big body. Disappointing diacetyl and sweetness in the nose which puts the scores down.

The Felix Holt, Nuneaton. Pale gold with a fine slick, lacing all the way down. Dusty flowers, apricot aroma. Stony and soft in that attractively Scottish way; apricots and orange flesh, granite, oatmeal. Lemon curd and corn linger. Slightly lovely.
