3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a crisp clear amber with a thin white head. Thereís a hint of nose in the form of cakey spices. Once in the mouth it wakens out - liquid christmas cake. Itís mild, but itís there. Cinnamons, nutmegs, the cakey maltiness. Not overly sweet as itís balanced with a decent bitterness. A nice seasonal.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours an attractive, radiant deep orange, not quite bright, with a big, dense, rocky white crown fuelled by fine streams of bubbles. Pronounced nutmeg and cinnamon on the nose with an odd hint of ginger and root beer, and toasted marshmallow. Unexpectedly raw and bitter, herbaceous hops in the mouth. The cinnamon and nutmeg blend in to the biscuity toasted malts to give a savoury edge to itís sweet front. Mild buttery notes and hints of caramel are forgettable. Not too long in the finish, ends quite crisp, the body light and adequate carbonation gives it bounce. This wasnít too bad a drop but I canít see it being overly sessionable! 2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask @ Castle Tavern, Inverness 271211
Appearance - Golden amber, clear, thin white head.
Aroma of cinnamon, sweet light malts, no hops.
Taste - sweet light malts, fair amount of cinnamon and christmas spices, no hops (obliterated by spices), 1-dimensional taste, rather mushy, boring.
Palate - Soft carb, spice, sweet, glycerine-like bit gloopy sweetish golden malts. Finish rapid and dull.
Overall - This doesnít really work - they can do better than this. Iíd skip this for one of their other beers.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
500ml Bottle from Tesco:
A fair bit of spice in this one, particularly cinnamon, there is some muted hops and dark malts. It was quite an unusual smell but not really great.
A light orange copper coloured drink that has good clarity and is topped with a foamy white head that is about a pinkys width tall and stays constant throughout.
Pretty unusual but not it a good way, it was very spicy and there was tonnes of cinnamon but not a lot else. Not very complex or enjoyable.
Light to medium bodied with a spicy but smooth feel to it & a crisp finish.
A poor effort, even for a novelty Christmas beer. There was far too much spice and not enough variation, Iíd avoid this one if I was you.
