2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask @ Castle Tavern, Inverness 271211
Appearance - Golden amber, clear, thin white head.
Aroma of cinnamon, sweet light malts, no hops.
Taste - sweet light malts, fair amount of cinnamon and christmas spices, no hops (obliterated by spices), 1-dimensional taste, rather mushy, boring.
Palate - Soft carb, spice, sweet, glycerine-like bit gloopy sweetish golden malts. Finish rapid and dull.
Overall - This doesn’t really work - they can do better than this. I’d skip this for one of their other beers.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
500ml Bottle from Tesco:
A fair bit of spice in this one, particularly cinnamon, there is some muted hops and dark malts. It was quite an unusual smell but not really great.
A light orange copper coloured drink that has good clarity and is topped with a foamy white head that is about a pinkys width tall and stays constant throughout.
Pretty unusual but not it a good way, it was very spicy and there was tonnes of cinnamon but not a lot else. Not very complex or enjoyable.
Light to medium bodied with a spicy but smooth feel to it & a crisp finish.
A poor effort, even for a novelty Christmas beer. There was far too much spice and not enough variation, I’d avoid this one if I was you.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml bottle from Premier Gourmet. Pours cloudy, amber in colour, with huge offwhite head, which leaves tonnes of lacing. Aroma is slightly bitter, hint of nutmeg and cinnamon. Taste is similar. Xmas spices are mild, making this an enjoyable drink!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 ml bottle as a trade bonus from Michael-pollack- thanks, Pollack! Pours a cloudy yellow-orange with a small eggshell white head. Aroma of nutmeg, pale malts, sawdust, straw, grass, and some fruit. Flavor of grass, wood, earth, straw, nutmeg, dry grains, and paper. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel. Dry finish. Did not really get any cinnamon. Not a bad bitter, though.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
500 ml bottle. Light copper. Crystal clea. Small
white fine laced head. Acidic spicy nose. Christmas spices; cinnamon
and nutmeg. Some black pepper. OK carbonation level. Body is rather
light. Taste of spices dominate everything else. Bready notes. Nothing
special, and there is no reason to buy more.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle @ Baran, Bergen. Deep coppery orange body, medium white head. Aroma is caramel malts with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. Taste is light caramel tones, hints of nutmeg and crisp hops. Very drinkable, as expected. Mellow but quite all right, except for a few tones of wet paper in the back which detracts the score a bit.
