A nice Christmas beer with just a hint of the traditional spices. It still tastes like a beer and not some crazy egg nog like concoction.

Pours a one finger white head that fades quickly to a ring leaving traces of lace. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Clear amber color. Nose is light malty and flavor is malt with hints of nutmeg. $5.95 for a 500ml bottle from Colonial Spirits, Acton, MA.

ALLOVATE (2333) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 3, 2012
Pours an attractive, radiant deep orange, not quite bright, with a big, dense, rocky white crown fuelled by fine streams of bubbles. Pronounced nutmeg and cinnamon on the nose with an odd hint of ginger and root beer, and toasted marshmallow. Unexpectedly raw and bitter, herbaceous hops in the mouth. The cinnamon and nutmeg blend in to the biscuity toasted malts to give a savoury edge to itís sweet front. Mild buttery notes and hints of caramel are forgettable. Not too long in the finish, ends quite crisp, the body light and adequate carbonation gives it bounce. This wasnít too bad a drop but I canít see it being overly sessionable! 50cl bottle. Pours an amber colour with a nice sized head. Without even lifting the glass, the Christmas spices are obvious. On closer inspection, the nutmeg is the obvious spice, itís so obvious that itís hard to get much of the malt behind though you somehow know itís there. The taste is more of the same. The palate is initially interesting but really itís a one-dimensional nutmeg thing. Overall, this amount of nutmeg probably has some health benefits but I couldnít see me having another.

Fra flaske pŚ Cardinaltreff des-12: som en golden ale med litt krydder. Kort ettersmak. Et typisk session beer, men allikevel bedre enn standard pÝseÝl.

BenH (2140) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - NOV 18, 2011
From bottle. Pours amber with white head. Aroma of toffee, nutmeg and vanilla. Taste has lots of cinnamon and nutmeg, far too much, major nutmeg party. First sip was interesting, a complete chore after that. Down the sink job.

Gr0ve (2127) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 19, 2011
500 ml bottle. Light copper. Crystal clea. Small white fine laced head. Acidic spicy nose. Christmas spices; cinnamon and nutmeg. Some black pepper. OK carbonation level. Body is rather light. Taste of spices dominate everything else. Bready notes. Nothing special, and there is no reason to buy more.
