Malty with a lingering bitter finish; the most notable and unusual aspect was a creamy, champagne-like moussy palate.

First tasted this in Gabriels, Paisley in September 1999. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear orange amber in colour with a thick creamy buff head. Short aroma of marmalade and barley sugar. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts gives a fruity base of sweet spangles and lemon and lime. Dusty hops give a long floral resiny note to the long aftertaste. Finish is dry with oak cask notes and citric pith. An ok session bitter.

Amber with a thin head. Vague aroma is lightly fruity. Fairly light toast character, but this beer is mainly about the pale malt. A basic, refreshing beer.

Cask @ Cafe Royal. Bright amber-orange. Tight lasting head. Aroma is a little gamey. Tastes much better, with toffee, caramel, toasted malts, and a lingering herbal finish. Even some clove and cinnamon on the palate. Nutty too. It seems like it would be sweet because of the malt character, but it’s actually more spicy. Finishes with a smack of toast and spice.
