3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 rgrep (155) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 10, 2004
(21 May 04) Hoppy aroma of flower and pine, with a splash of lime. It pours a clear yellow with a fizzy white head. Body is sweet and lighty bitter with a lively and watery mouthfeel that’s a little alcoholic in the finish. Goes great with curry, but I still prefer Mango Lassi.

I’ve had this one in New Zealand on my honeymoon. Visited the brewery too.
Nice brew. Hoppy.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TheGrandMaster (2313) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 29, 2008
Bottle, a fair bit of carbonation in the dark gold pour, with a bubbly head on top. The aroma is malty with some hints of toffee. A smooth malty palate at first, then hoppier and drier. Caramal and fruity flavours on the tongue. If only more lagers could have as much character as this!
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 bmackenzie (40) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 13, 2008
Aroma: Passionfruit, gooseberry and lightly pine hop aromas moderately dominate the palate but can’t disguise the malt-caramel combination underneath. The prickly, nettle like hop aroma blended with a subtle malt is quite enticing.
Appearance: dark gold, clear with lovely persistent white head and good beading.
Flavour: firm passion fruit and gooseberry giving way to quite a caramel middle and finish. Finishes medium and a pleasant after-taste of hop and caramel. No off flavours detected and pleasant assertive hoppiness balances the malt flavour.
Palate: Finishes medium and could improve with drier finish.
Good drop that would please most punters looking for a moderately challenging beer. I have had this quite often and this is tasting slightly different with a more pronounced caramel note.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 phaleslu (3543) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - OCT 20, 2009
Guest tap at The Twisted Hop, early October 2009. Pours clear amber with a medium white head- a bit darker than most lagers. Aroma of citrus, hops, malt, a little skunk. Flavor is malty, with hops and citrus, and slightly skunky. Light body, somewhat watery. I’m not sure if something was off with this one, but it was okay. All the Twisted Hop beers were better, so maybe it just suffered from comparison.

Pale golden colour with big creany head. mild grassy aroma but fruity citrus flavour. Probably one of the better brews to come from this brewery.

this may have been sweet but at least it wasn't nutty. i guess it's an ipa, though it's not particularly hoppy by any standards other than new zealand's
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 eczematic (1297) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - FEB 8, 2004
i have no idea what style this is supposed to be so i just shoved it under "ale". they say it's designed to go with indian food but it doesnt taste like a cobra, more like an ESb or something. caramel and fruit aroma. was expecting nutty NZ malt but got mainly just caramel, with pepper and citrus from the hops, dry and spicy in the finish but not especially bitter. a bit of a mess but thankfully not infected like other beers we had from these guys.

300ml bottle. Pours a clear gold with a nice head. Malt with a hint of lime, not getting any other fruit. Average taste and mouth feel. Not too bitter, little hint of citrus.
