DuffMan (5187) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 20, 2009
Purchased fresh from the brewery, one of a group of birthday beers (thanks K, S, & J!). Pours a near-black with a moderate brown cap, no lace. Very roasty aroma, vegetal coffee bean, chocolate, wet boxboard. Roasty coffee flavour, chocolate, a little briny, with some light fruity acidity contributes to a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Finish is of medium length, dry, and quite bitter.

Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - OCT 25, 2008
(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy black with a small light brown head. Lightly tart aroma of burned malt. Medium body with hard roasted malts, some accents of metal and blood and then a distinct acidity. This is clearly infected but actually comes out very refreshing – almost like a Flemish Sour. 250308

Pours black with an off-white head. Hint of lacings. Smells of coffee. Sweet with a very light bitterness. Lots of chocolate and a bit of coffee too. Hint of licorice. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Short dry finish with a hint of metals.

Storm (2685) - Amager, DENMARK - MAR 30, 2008
Blind tasting at Papsoe’s. Muddy, brown colour with a weak head. Aroma of malt, roastedness, and hints of sourness. Sour and probably infected flavour. Notes of roasted malt - ends up very thin.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with no head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of chocolate, but also a hint of acidity. The flavor is acidic with notes of malt and chocolate - I thin it is off.

Black with medium beige head. Sweet sour aroma with notes of roasted malt, berries and balsamico. Sweet and sour flavor with sour berries, roasted malt and oak notes. Must be infected. But that came out just right.

From bottle, 5B Papsoes New Zealand vs US blind tasting. Pours dark brown and hazy to murky with a fully diminished tan head. Roasted malt with a mild chocolate note. Sourish fruity flavour. Mild roasted note and more of that horrible sourish flavour. Ends strange fruity acidic.

Bottle, cgarvieuk coolbeans party. Pitch black (really, I hear you cry), thin beige head. Nose is light, slightly off-watery. Some funky fruit. Mouth is quite fruity dark malts, touch of cherry, refreshing. Malty swallow. Alright.

Bottle at home with Tom and Royce ... Big thanks to my sister for not bringing back two swill lagers for me ... light malt nose ... bit over fizzy and thin ... but decent malt some chocolate ... some sweetness in roast ... not best stout but a decent stout and a great pick by my uninformed sister. WHO gave me the best of my chrstmas presents 2 unexpected interesting beers.
