Bottle. Toasty caramel malt and light smoky aroma. Hazy russet with a small off-white head. Ashy smoke and toasty malt flavor with a roasty bitter finish. Body on the light side of medium, moderate carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a mid brown colour with a thin head, aroma has smoke and malt, the taste is bitter and still has plenty of smoke with a dry finish.

Nice wee drop. Appears a pleasant light clear cooper with lasting white head. Aroma is slight smoke which continues through into the flavour. Subtle manuka smoke, on a velvety mouth feel. Nice enjoyable beverage.

Hazy deep amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Smooth palate, softish with very mild carbonation. Smoke! Initially too much smoke, but the palate adjusts a vaguely fruity tone comes through. Traces of lactose malt and hop citrus before the semi dry finish. All right but the smoke could be dialled down a bit!

Bottle. Pours a very cloudy darker brown color with almost no head on it. Nose is extremely smokey, almost like a peaty scotch, and has just a hint of the sweetness from the underlying style coming through underneath. Taste is also quite smokey and reminds me quite a bit of a campfire. Very little sweetness in there, though you can get just a hint of it in the finish.

Very smokey indeed. Dark red amber. Light lasting head. Big smokey flavor. Smells like smoke and taste like sour smoke. Very sour. Very smokey. A little too much smoke for me. I was hoping for some Bock flavor. Found none. Like drinking a campfire.

At room temperature and into a snifter. Radiant, fiery bronze with very fine carbonation. Solid, compact off-white foam leaves a broad lace. Where there is smoke there is fire. This one has an aroma of slow-smoked, peated meats, bonfire ash, pork lipids and fresh shaved proscuitto with just a little caramel and fried bread croutes - odd but alluring. Palate is alive with ashen meats, peat, wood and earth; the length is a winner. Good body, lightly viscous but finishing soft and oily. Sweet, burnt sugars and toffee up front; a tannic malt hit breaking up the swallow with just a smidgeon of charred malt bitterness. Touch of plum conserve and marmalade an odd addition. Very well balanced and controlled with nothing far fetched or over-the-top. I’d be happy to sit on this one for a while. A lovely brew! (33cL, 2011 vintage, Cellarbrations Carlisle)

Wood brown and cloudy with a short, yellow- tan head.
Aroma of smoked meat...caramel.
Taste is caramel, smoke, a hint of vanilla sweetness.

Bottle poured a clear reddish amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of smoked ribs, carmel and light fruittiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of smoke, carmel, earthiness and light fruittiness with a smooth lingering smokey finish.

Bottle. Pours caramel brown with an off-white head. Aroma was smoky with notes of caramel and wood. Flavor was smoked malts, caramel, roast and had a touch of vanilla.
