2.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Davros (1007) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAR 5, 2012
Pours gold with an almost non-existent head.
Nose shows floral honey and bready notes. Delicate, but very tempting.
Similar flavours at first before transitioning to full-on grain malt. Unfortunate really, I feel let down after that promising aroma.
Body seems a bit watery.

Been dodging this one in my fridge so probably not a true rating, though I may not bother with it again, taste of cardboard and the honey dries out the finish.

Bottle 330ml from King&Godfree. Nice balanced taste. Aromas of honey and wet leaves. Taste is sweet and bitter, with average length. Palate is oily, and medium bodied. Dark yellow, with a frothy head.

330ml bottle delivered from the brewery. An opaque golden hue with a thin white creamy head and good lacing. The aroma is ok; honey toasty malt but fairly scant regardless of temperature. Flavour is also a bit scant; sweet, with mild bitterness. Texture is a bit thin, light medium carbonation, long dry finish. This was just ok, I have made nicer home brew honey beers than this.

From a 330ml bottle on 19/8/2011. Pours a clearish yellow golden colour with a medium head..Has a mild floral honey aroma. Not surprisingly, there’s lots of honey in the flavour, along with a decent mild hop finish. Not bad, but nothing special.

330ml bottle. Misty honey colour with a soft white head and sweet honey aroma which is a touch on the light side. Flavour however has a strong honey influence and a real sweetness that sits well . All round not too bad.

There is some confusion with this beer because the brewery has essentially recycled the old Wasp Golden Ale label design. It’s kind of ironic that the old Wasp was called a golden ale when it really was a wheat beer, and this is now called Wasp Honey Lager when in fact it is closer to a golden ale than the old Wasp ever was. They are completely different brews, with different ingredients and different ABV’s. This poured a deep bronze golden and raised a pretty small gold-tinted head. The aroma is incredible-- the perfumey floral aromatics of the honey are unmistakable. The palate is very well constructed too, with toasty malts complimenting the sweet and slightly spicy honey flavour perfectly, and with just the right amount of hop bitterness and complexity to keep this from becoming too sweet or too simple. This is certainly among the finest honey beers I’ve ever had.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2009 Pint. No longer a Wheat but a Honey Pilsner. Amazing toast with honey aroma and very crisp clean finish with a residual sweetness from the honey. Not usually a fan of honey beers but this is a good un
Tried again and tasted like licking someones armpit in a sweaty deodoranty way. Not so nice, so score adjusted

Tried out of the bottle at the malthouse courtesy of Michelle. This isn’t a wheat ale anymore it’s actually a honey pilsner. I don’t like honey beers but i liked this one! little bit of honey on the nose but masses on the palate, ididn’t find it refreshing but enjoyed it all the same.
