3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle… Midnight black with a small, creamy, well-tanned head. Good retention. Chocolaty nose. Full-bodied with an ultra smooth mouthfeel and laid-back carbonation. Blackstrap molasses, cocoa nibs, espresso and charcoal are definitely front-and-center. Lengthy, mildly bitter, burnt, dry finish. Thanks go out to laroja for generously sharing the bottle!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
1.5L bottle, courtesy Morgan from the Great Orlando Beer Festival. The pour yields a really dark mahogany colored body with a foamy, chocolate brown head. Glints of chestnut tinted translucency shine through. Sudsy lacing mostly rejoins the body. Aromas of dark cocoa, burnt caramel, and coffee roast are countered by staunch, earthy hops. Flavors are rich, full, and fudgy, choco-coffee roast and dark caramel setting the tone, with a scorched barley and earthen hop bitterness coming through at the end. Medium-full bodied and slightly over carbonated, the palate is a little prickly for the style. Roast lingers for ages after the swallow. Pretty decent brew.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
had this on tap at the brewery it was served a little colder than I like. A good tan head sat on top of my cup with a solid black body.
The nose was typical roasted malt with some hops. The flavors mimicked the nose but as it warmed the hops stood out more. It had a medium mouthfeel with plenty of carbonation.
This was relatively easy to drink I had four sample cups as I hung around. The alcohol was no where to be found in this at 10%, but felt a little in my cheeks as I left the release
