3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
This beer came in my beer club - I am not familiar with the brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with a medium sized fluffy tan head. The aroma was roasty with a light floral hop undertone. The flavor was bitter and roasty with a moderate floral hop element. The finish was longish, bitter and hoppy.

From bottle pours dark amber/brown with a fair amount of head. Nice roasted malt flavor, with a lingering aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours dark brown almost balck with a smallish head. Aromas of malts and some roastiness. FLavors of malts and faitrly aggressive hops that was a surprise. While drinking it seemed that the hoppiness mellowed a bit, but for a brown it was very hoppy.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very nice beer. Aroma is mostly malt with some earthy hoppiness. Dark brown color with a nice head. Taste is complex with malt and hops fighting for control. Finishes very dry and refreshing. Worth a try.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Poured a cloudy brown color with a medium light-brown head. Strong lacing. Aroma of chocolate, malt, and coffee. Flavor is malty with a strong coffee overtone. Not one of my favorite brown ales.

12 oz bottle via Malt of Earth Beer Club. Pours a hazy dark reddish brown with an average sized chunky beige head. Nose is toasted grains, a little vanilla, tofee and some spicy hops. Tastes just like it smells with a little added orange peel/grapefruit in the finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Chocolaty ale aroma with a west coast tinge. Nice label, murky walnut brown beer. Grassy-earthy notes, floral/citrus overtones combined with a coffeish brown ale flavor. Medium body. FInishes with coffee and grapefruit pith hop bitterness. The occasional chemical and grassy note in the finish. Good. Ale in the Mail selection, June 2007.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer pours out a nice dark amber color but the head fades away very quickly. There is a nice earth smell to it that is not that strong but still appealing. As you drink it you taste some nice earthy tones and some bitter hops.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured a deep brown with a slight red hue. The head was modest off-white.
Smells as it tastes. Solid matly body with overtones of figs. Citrusy hops give a bite to the aftertaste. This one is pretty smooth with great drinkability. Different from other brown ales I’ve had, but who cares how accurately a beer represents a style, so long as it’s tasty.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Medium bodied and smooth. Almost more of a light bodied porter than a brown ale. A little raisin. Nutty. I guess I’d say some brown sugar. Not really complex at all, but smooth, good body and full flavored. I might call this more of an old ale than a brown ale, but it’s pretty good.
