3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 emacgee (3004) - Chapel Hill, USA - JUN 1, 2009
Pours a dark copper brown with a one finger foamy light mocha head. The aroma is earthy, malty, mild diacetyl, sweet. Flavor is a bit strange, malty, English, diacetyl, pretty prominent hop presence. Off bottle maybe.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 wlajwl (1810) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - APR 30, 2012
Aroma is complex dark fruits and malts. The flavor is similar to the aroma along with a good hop bite into the dry finish, almost like a light imperial stout. Pretty good.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jkwood04 (1442) - Connecticut, USA - APR 26, 2012
12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours ruby/brown with a fluffy, cream-colored head. Aroma of caramel and a little roasted and hints of chocolate malts, plus a good amount of bitter/floral hops. Flavor about the same. Average texture. A decent beer.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 quiznoaz (211) - Arizona, USA - APR 18, 2012
Hoppy brown ale flows off the tongue much better than grapefruit brown ale. It flows better over the tongue as well. I like it.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cybercat (1913) - Georgia, USA - FEB 22, 2012
Aroma has a malty core with subtle chocolate and citrus notes and just a hint of cloves. It pours a dark, hazy, warm brown with a fairly thick and persistent light tan head that leaves some good lacing. Malty flavor has woody, unsweet chocolate and caramel notes plus a fruity hint. Smooth, firm-bodied texture is fizzy and lively, leaving a woody, malty finish.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 ChainGangGuy (3837) - Canton, Georgia, USA - JAN 18, 2012
22 ounce bottle - $3.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours out a dark russet-toned body with a rather tall, beige head.
Smell: Roasty, toasty malts, chiefly, with hoppy edges of pine and pith.
Taste: Hardly toasted bread, a fair amount of chary roast, and some bitterish chocolate, though very little sweetness ever coming forward to the drinker. Bark-strewn pine chips and a bit of chopped citrus pith ahead of a medium level of bitterness. Drying on the back half with some lingering pine and roast.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Actually, I was surprised at how fairly hop-forward this was, and was a bit disappointed, as I’d hoped for something more on the malty end of the brown ale spectrum.

Bottle. Pours a medium to dark brown color with a soft beige head. Nose is roast chocolate with lactic notes and light dark acidic fruit notes. Palate has a light fizz feel with some velvety tongue coating. Flavors of lactic acid, malted milk.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 SpringsLicker (2547) - Tennessee, USA - JAN 8, 2012
Clear dark brown pour with an average sized off-white head.
Light malt aroma.
The flavor is lightly sweet but this brown ale has some hops in it too.
Not badly done, but not for those who are looking for a sweet one.
Good body, very drinkable.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 SSSteve (3031) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 1, 2012
bottle. clear brown with a small, frothy, white head. aroma is hard to pick up, but i get light caramel notes. flavor has very light nutty tones with caramel and a floral hop finish. kind of dry and bitter. this one uses a lot of hops. i like browns sweeter with less hops typically.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 annunz123 (322) - Taunton, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 21, 2011
On tap as the Eagle Brook as "King Philip Dark." Nice malty aroma. Taste is not what I expected, dominated by somewhat harsh, bitter hops, almost like an IPA.

Dark red-brown pour with tan head. Aroma is roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt. The flavor stays with you. Head is thick and clingy.
