3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MartinT (6350) - Montreal, - NOV 11, 2007
My Bottom Line:
The complex hoppiness within this IPA offers earthy, citrusy, wooden and orangey notes, all leading to a muscular coniferous and resinous bitterness which cannot be balanced out by the friendly bready malts. But that’s not the purpose, is it?
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the hazy amber.
-Mouthfeel is rather comfortable, increasing the level of drinkability.
-The complex hoppiness remains approachable throughout, although that finish might be a tad abrasive for those not used to this style.
-I would have liked a bit more malt complexity for a 6% IPA, but that’s just me.
Bottle.

12oz bottle. Light amber pour with a white head. Real nice earthy malt taste with a nice hop balance. Not bad.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of malt, leaves, Earth, nuts, roasting, and a hint of hops. Poured amber/copper in color with a large, creamy, foamy, dense, tan head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of tiny and small-sized particles throughout. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of malt, hops, slight pine, Earth, nuts, and leaves. Medium body. Oily, then dry texture. Average carbonation. Malt, hop, pine, Earth finish is dry. 6.9%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

Bottle… Clear copper ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Exceptional retention. The nose is an intermingling of toasted biscuit, caramel and black tea. Medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and lazy carbonation. The flavor furnishes toastiness and black tea bitterness with a twist of lemon peel. Bitter, black tea finish. Bottle courtesy of growler. Thanks, Scott!

A hazy light brown brew. Good carbonation. Light roasty-hop aromas. Flavor is good and hoppy. Light to medium body. Some roastiness. Slightly sticky finish. An OK brew, but perhaps a little muddled.

Pours a deep hazy brown. Has a nice apple cinnamon aroma. Has a mild bitterness. The best IPA I’ve tasted so far (and I’m not usually a big fan of them).
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jkwood04 (1442) - Connecticut, USA - SEP 28, 2011
12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours deep amber with a thick, lacy, light tan head. Aroma of citrusy/piney hops with some caramel malts that have hints of nuts and toffee. A maltier IPA than most, and this balances the hops nicely. Average texture. A good IPA

From a bottle poured a dark amber color with a fair amount of head. Nice hoppy flavor with a quick finish.

Great amber coloured body with a thick tan head. and some bubbles rising from the bottom - nice. Aroma of strong almost-wet hops with pine, alcohol and grapefruit coming out most, with a good malt backbone and a nice bitter scent. Medium-bodied; Strong fresh hop flavour with a good herbal and floral flavour and a metallic kick at the end. Aftertaste shows some good malt background and a touch of spices and some light alcohol, but not as deep as expected. Overall, the hops really come out in the nose, but they are less apparent in the flavour and especially the finish. A nice beer for sure, but I could have had more bitterness - regardless, the fresh hops smell great and do well in this beer, I just wish they added more in the boil. Great to sample, given that i’m nowhere close to this brewery. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Colonial Spirits in Acton, Massachusetts on 23-September-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 07-October-2010.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Duhast500 (362) - Exile In Medford, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 15, 2010
Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass.
The color is a cloudy deep amber with a finger of white foamy head and some lacing.
The smell is of brown sugar and spices. Some slight pumpkin flavor.
The taste is of maple and brown sugar. A nice spicy Autumn beer with some great syrup flavor.
The feel of this beer is lighter then some fall beers. The spicy feel of this beer is pretty light and cohesive with a breezy day. A well drinking beer that is light and enjoyable.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 riversideAK (4570) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JAN 15, 2010
Bottle from RCL I think. Thanks man. The aroma is leafy, floral, and lightly grapefruity. Some toast and roast is there too. Pours darker amber with a thin fizzy head and light lace. Medium hoppy flavors. Light citrus and floral hops. Somewhat crisp and zesty. Toasted malts, a touch of roast. Crisp and vibrant hops, dry toast/roast on the palate. Pretty quenching, nice to drink. A good session IPA.
