3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 PhatB420 (373) - Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA - APR 1, 2012
12oz into an harpoon ipa glass. Pours a dark ale, ripe orange, medium brown, and dark carrot. Taste is very bitter, hoppy, floral and citrus upfront, still bitter, and slight malt and more bitter in the aftertaste. A fresh and distinct ipa here, seems more like a dark ale at times. Head eases in and then remains thin througout the brew. The bitterness stays on the tounge well after the drink is finished. this is a gentlemans ipa.

Orlando, FL - Whole Foods - 12 oz bottle. Dark copper pour, slight murkiness, nice off-white head that leaves a trace of lacing. Aroma has some butter scotch notes, traces of vanilla. Solid bitter flavor with some grapefruit citrus notes, some vanilla in the background, a touch of butterscotch. Thick enough mouthfeel. Decent.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ChainGangGuy (3837) - Canton, Georgia, USA - MAR 15, 2012
22 ounce bottle - $3.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours out a clouded, dark dirty copper body with an inch of off-white head leaving sticky laceworks on the descent.
Smell: Malt blend presenting notes of bread, toast, and a bit of caramel. Hops throwing off hints of citrus zest and reserved resins.
Taste: Bready, toasty maltiness with a scant sliver of caramel. There’s some sweetness, but not too much, really. Grapefruit and bitter orange hop flavors with a medium-plus bitterness. Small hint of earthy resins underneath. Bready yeastiness. Bittersweet finish with a bready flavor and touch of citrus enduring into the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Decently drinkable, I thought it was OK. A beer that gets the job done.
