My favorite brown ale, hands down. Smooth malty flavor tinted with chocolate. Aroma is also very chocolatey. Almost nonexistent hops. Medium to full bodied with a nice long finish. Really wonderful stuff.

Big off-white head. Nutty and malty aroma. Malty and nutty, light to medium bodied, and bitter all the way through. Lacks good ratings, its ok. I enjoy this, and think its a decent brew. Perhaps a better APA, or IPA, but its definately drinkable and wished it had a better acceptance.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2003 I wish this beer tasted as well as it smelled. The taste is a bit thin and although this beer goes down easy, it lacks a good taste that could make this a classic.

I find this to be one of the best nut browns out there, particularly aromatic and confident. Perfect for a late fall day, perhaps while watching some football with other beer connoisseurs. Cheers to Ipswich for this impudent brew.

Deep rust: brown red in color; Thin head; Cashew in the nose-!!!
Slightly medicinal on the middle back of the tomgue- but not offensive. Sharp bite develops across tongue at one point. Is quite thin on the tongue though.

Fair to middlin brown ale, not to their normal standards, decent nose and fair bite, but leans to the weak side. Drinkable for most, will not get any medals from me!

Wins points with me for the really intoxicating aroma and nice head (though perhaps a bit much for a brown), but disappointingly weak and thin. GOOD flavor, what there is of it; just not enough to make it a great or even near-great beer. Worth it if its your neighborhood beer, I guess (like Magic Hat products are for me).
