douglas88 (820), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottle thanks to Mark. Pours a jet black body with a medium brown head. The aroma is full of roasted malts, some chocolates, a bit of coffee and some milkshake. The taste is quite nice; lots of chocolate and milky flavors, some burnt coffee and metallic tastes in the finish. A hint of hops in the finish too. An excellent creamy and full mouthfeel. A very nice beer. Ibrew2or3 (1756), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Sep 27, 2008 Pours deep dark with brown edges and thin tan head. The aroma is light with smooth dark roastiness and some burnt malts too. The taste starts with a pleasing smoothness bringing in burnt malts and mild roastiness. It ends with a very tasty roasted malt to burnt malt sensation and then rounded out with some dry malt astringency. Nice stuff. mcox90 (364), Wilton, New Hampshire, USA Sep 22, 2008 12 oz. bottle from a mixed 12 pack and the best of the 12 IMO. Pours a black color with a healthy tan head. Nose is malts with a chocolate background. Palate is on the heavy bodied side and a bit oily. Flavor starts out a bit on the bitter side. Eventually some wonderful oatmeal & lactose flavors make themselves known. Like Mom’s home made oatmeal cookies, if Mom put alcohol in her oatmeal cookies. bu11zeye (3780), Frisco, Texas, USA Sep 13, 2008 (Draught) Pours a murky dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, oatmeal, cocoa, and lactose. Flavor of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel, and some hops. sebletitje (379), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 8, 2008 Pours black with brownish head.
Aroma of chocolate and coffee beans.
Taste is roasted malts, strong presence of coffee. The overall coffee taste is very dry that is similar to dry cofee/espresso beans.
Very drinkable, rich in taste.
