3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a large bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a rich black color with a large creamy dark than head that had good retention, and excellent lacing and cling. Its aroma featured big roasty malt flavors of chocolate and coffee, along with tones of oats and caramel, and lighter touches of earthy hops. The taste was a pleasant sweet-bitter blend with toasty flavors of chocolate and coffee, along with caramel malt, and lighter background touches of earthy and grainy hops. It was a somewhat creamy beer, with average carbonation and life, and was a bit wet with a full, smooth, and fluffy mouthfeel that was a touch dry at the end.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was black with a half finger off white foamy head that quickly dies into the beer with some spider web lacing.
The smell had a toasted oatmeal up front with some light dark chocolate hanging around over some light roasted coffee bean.
The taste had a thick roastiness over some coffee bean and then a slight oatmeal come out.
On the palate, this sat right at a medium in body. There was a subdued carbonation running over my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good oatmeal stout to come back to if I could.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle exploded upon cracking the top and took 10-15 minutes to settle down. Coffee, chocolate, espresso, roasted nuts, and a nice hop backbone to cut the sweet. Pretty good but probably would have been much better properly carbonated.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Coffee and toasted malt dominate the aroma. The aroma is pleasant although somewhat too simple. The mouthfeel is good with acidity and malt well-balanced. The taste has strong coffee and roast flavors with some hops. Too little malt backbone for a truly good flavor.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Atlanta, Ga - Tower Beer, Wine & Spirits - 22 oz bomber. Bottle exploded upon opening (points off of overall for that) - Dark black pour - thick (too thick) and foamy off-white head that sticks around way too long. Aroma has some creosote and chocolate - nice. Flavor ha some nice espresso notes, some potting soil, a bit of bittersweet baker’s dark chocolate and a touch of licorice. Nice chalky mouthfeel. Pretty solid - just wish there was not so much carbonation on the pour - could only pour about two ounces at a time!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark brown almost black with a creamy brown sugar-tan head that evokes the head of an ice cream soda. Wet natural lacing as the head fades to a finger or so. Aroma is rich roasted chocolate malts and a touch of oats. Taste is sweet chocolate malt and oatmeal into bitter roast coffee malt. Notes of ash to close. Really well-balanced between sweet and bitter. A quality oatmeal stout.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aroma was somewhat confusing - wood, a cheesiness, roasted malt. Pour a brownish-black with a robust lasting espresso head and abundant lacing. Bittness is the dominate flavor. Burnt grain, burnt coffee, burnet wood. Medium body and excessive carbonation. Overall, too much burnt tast and too much carbonation. An oatmeal stout should be smoother and smoothness is not what this beer is about"

Cask Third of a Pint at GBBF 2013, Olympia, London Aug 2013 - Black in colour. Very Malty; roasty malts, roasted barley, oatmeal, dark chocolate and espresso coffee. Fruity; dark fruits, raisins. Hoppy; some balancing hop bitterness. Rich and smooth. Sweet bitter roast malty chocolaty and coffee throughout. Very drinkable. Nice Oatmeal Stout!
