alexanderj (1197), Roanoke, Virginia, USA Jul 20, 2008 Bottle; poured a dark black with a nice brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, oats, chocolate; semi-sweet. Some burnt, ashiness in the finish. good oatmeal presence in the middle. Some coffee and sweetness moved in and out of the flavor. Overall it was a bit above average for the style for me. Imaena (175), Portland, Maine, USA Jun 28, 2008 Bottle @ Lower Depths Boston.
Dark black with tight head. Deep roasted flavor with malts and clear oat finish. Motor oil viscosity. Great mouth feel. Will be buying this again. Biddle_Brau (86), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Jun 20, 2008 Pours black, black, black with minimal head although after a few sips lacing is left on the glass. Very slight roasty aroma that is much more prominent in the flavor. Taste is also grainy and dry and a slightly oily aftertaste. Minimal carbonation contributes to the mouthfeel. A flavorful stout. On tap at The Shep. JorisPPattyn (4248), Antwerpen, Belgium May 29, 2008 Medium, dark-beige head over black beer with a reddish shine. Oatmeal clearly in the nose, with non-fermentable sugars as lactose, and milk chocolate, only slightly burnt notes. Cigarette ash, still quite some restsugars or non-fermentables in the main taste; ending burnt-bitterish. Very slick - oatmeal slick? - with a wry aftertaste, drying out. Nice stout, really. Thanks to Dirk & Leen for sharing, and to Eugene, of course. 1FastSTi (2357), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA May 15, 2008 Thanks Todd. This beer pours to a black body with a creamy tan head. The aroma is dark malt and licorice with a touch of oatmeal. The flavor is lightly creamy black malt with a black licorice. The palate has that charred malt and a light peppery alcohol.
