3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
#17 of my Stouts of November: Dark brown hue with a good frothy tan head and excellent lace. Aroma hinted of nutty roasted malt, molasses, mocha, coffee, cereal, grassy and aromatic hops, smoke and cask wood. The taste was sweet upfront (you can notice the oats) with a followup of molasses like twang. The finish has a nice bitter bite which provided balance on the palate, some smoky undertone as well. Medium-bodied with a creamy and lively mouthfeel. Not as sweet as most oatmeal stouts. A hint of Imperial style. Nice sublime compexity, worthy of a go around.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: Jet black and pours with a perfect thin layer of a creamy light tan head.
A: Chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts really make up the nose. There is also a slight sweetness that somewhat hidden by the previous mentioned smells, but its still detectable.
T: Predominate in roasted flavors from the malt and coffee and then is backed up towards the end of the taste by the bitterness
P: Full-bodied, smooth and creamy. Carbonation is maybe a little over done.
O: Very good representation of the style, but just a little over-carbonated. This one might want to sit for a while in the fridge before drinking.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
En fût au Yard House de Boston. Un stout classique brun foncé presque noir. Un nez de chocolat, du rôtis et du café. La bouche est passablement mince avec des notes de cendrier.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20

Good dark head, strong oatmeal nose. Starts out with a sweet malty taste but gradually goes to a slightly hoppy finish. Very dark and chewy - a good oatmeal. $2.09 for a 12oz bottle from Julio’s Westborough, Ma.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Keg pour at Powder Keg Beer & Chili Festival. Aroma is chocolaty, roasted malts. Appearance is black pour, thin off-white head with nice lacing, no discernible sparkle. Taste is strong sweet roasted malts with some chocolate. Palate is surprisingly light bodied with slippery mouth feel and surprisingly lively carbonation. Overall, a good beer with a little light in the body and slightly overcarbonated.

Completely black, with a small light brown head. The aroma is filled with oatmeal, dark rye bread and sweet syrup. The taste is sweet, neutral, woody and with a short hop kick. Amazing.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pitch black pour with a nice micha head. Coffee, oat, roast, bitter chocolate. Medium smooth body. Relatively short slightly bitter finish. A bit more creaminess and body would be better
