Our award-winning stout is rich and malty with hints of chocolate and coffee. It’s what espresso would be if it had the gumption to be beer. Makes a great dessert...or meal.

13th August 2008. Opaque black beer, no head., only a little carbonation. Silky smoothness, presumably from the oatmeal. Medium toasted malt and with a bitterish coffee finish. The silky palate keeps the score up on this one.

Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Nose is roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, and some dried fruit notes. Flavor is balanced malty sweetness and dark-chocolate-like bitterness. Astringent finish. Full body. Moderate carbonation. Good brew.

22 oz bottle. Pours nearly black with a large and durable tan head. Nice lacing. The aroma carries more hops than expected English hops? O: disappointing given the high ratings on BA.

Mmm, this a very good beer all around! Attractive black pour w/ a tan head that leaves a nice circle of lacing. The aroma is dominated by the roasty notes w/ a touch of chocolate. The taste is quite robust & almost Russian imperial esque w/ the somewhat bitter finish. Great complexity for a stout & quite tasty! Fairly smooth as well - delicious!

22oz bomber. Opaque walnut-colored beer with a tan somewhat persistent head and light lacing. Aroma is somewhat sweet, roasted oats in it. Taste is pretty great, with lots of roasty toasty flavors and no hop bitterness--thick mouthfeel, enough to match the strong taste. Really nice beer, highly recommended for fans of the style.

"Big sweet roasty aroma and flavor. Pretty well balanced by ample bitterness, but in the end still a sweet beer with chocolate, coffee, a little smoke & dark fruit. Smooth and enjoyable."

Bottle. Pours deep, dark brown with creamy tan head. Aroma is chocolate, lightly roast malts, oats, faint plums, and light earthy notes. Flavor is rich chocolate, earthy bitterness, coffee, faint dark fruit notes, and light ash; dry finish with some chocolate notes lingering. Full body and medium carbonation

From a bomber. Pours wry dark brown with a bubbly tan head and nice lacing. Smells like booze, sweet chocolate, some vanilla, and cookie malt. Tastes like chocolate, vanilla bean, coffee beans, and dry malt.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was black with a half finger off white foamy head that quickly dies into the beer with some spider web lacing. The smell had a toasted oatmeal up front with some light dark chocolate hanging around over some light roasted coffee bean. The taste had a thick roastiness over some coffee bean and then a slight oatmeal come out. On the palate, this sat right at a medium in body. There was a subdued carbonation running over my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good oatmeal stout to come back to if I could.
