Clear gold, medium white head. Sweet and malty, light body. Finishes a bit overly sweet. Not to my taste.

Maker: Schloßbrauerei Irlbach, Irlbach, Germany Beer: Irlbacher Goaßkopf Halbe Ur-Märzen Style: Oktoberfest beer/Märzen ALC.VOL.: 5.6% Colour: yellow golden, clear, decent fluffy head Nose: Sour bread, barley Texture: A little rough, not too watery, a wee bit oily, relatively low carbonation. Medium body. Taste: Caramel, plenty of malt, very limited hops - bread notes at first. Neither truly sweet nor truly bitter. No fruit. Malt dominates the middle and finish, bitterness is minimal. A little bit more bitter (without ever being hoppy) in the aftertaste, but agaibn grains dominate. Impressions: Rather undistinguished Märzen, limited range and depth of taste. Drinkable though, with well-integrated alcohol.

Unspektakuläres Piwo mit ein bisschen Brot, etwas Karamell und ein paar Malzen. Recht einfach gehalten, trinkbar, nichts Besonderes.

Bottle from Getränkemarkt Fristo in Bamberg. The beer has got a deep golden colour with steady low head and medium body. Aroma of grains, honey and white bread. Taste of mild hops, light wheat, mild honey, bread and straw. Light grainy finish. Easy drinkable and solid in its own way, yet nothing special.

9,8,7,6,4,7 - 7,05

500ml bottle. Clear dark golden color. Medium size head, stays. Metallic, shit, wheat in aroma. Dusty malts, flourish, faint roast in taste. Weird sidetaste. Bland.

500ml bottle (Irlbacher Bar, Riga)
Nice rich orange, tight but quite brief head. Simple papery malty aroma. Tapery taste. Atenuation high, high for a 5.6% Marzen. Dry and husky finish, a bit rough. No sign of 5.6%, at least.

Bouteille: Deep golden with a small and stable creamy white head; moderate sweet-bitter honeyish to grainy nose; moderate to robust sweet-bitter flavour, almost medium bodied; lingering bisquity and hoppy-bitter finish. Not a very aromatic, but a solid and crunchy thirst-quencher…

bottle from Bierzerg. Golden colour, mid-sized white head. Malty with some shy hops, grassy and slightly cardboardy. Nothing exceptional, just another lager.

Bottle looks okay, a bit complex. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Starts fine spicy. A bit metallically, more and more moldy. Finish could be more balanced. Okay, but not more.
