(bottle) Clear, chestnut-brown colour with a beige and tall foamy head. Delicately toasted malty aroma with bready, slightly hoppy accents, accompanied by a tinge of cacao and wet leather. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderately toasted malt-character with notes of walnuts, cacao and shades of herbal hops; medium-dry, nutty and slightly toast-malty finish. Pleasant. 17.VIII.11

500ml bottle from Ship & Mitre Liverpool. I love this. Not the beer as I havent had it yet. The trip into the unknown. I could get 8 UK rates here but I would much rather pay 3 times the price for something I dont know but could be crap or could be fabulous. Cleat mid brown beer with thick dark beige head. Its decent. Decent maltiness withut being too sweet. Touch of nutshell in there. Some bitterness on finish. Pretty likeable beer. Tastes pretty fresh too. Good stuff

Draught at McLoughlin’s. Pretty brown with lots of orange and a long-lasting head. Dryish aroma of caramel, bread and cereals, chocolate. Rich, bready malt, caramel, nutty flavor. Not too sweet, with a slight fruity tang and a dry finish. Nice malts, nice balance. A good dunkel.

picked this up last week coming back from munich. had the distinctive honey-rye aroma of southern bavarian dunkels. tasted a lot like altbier - full floral hops more dominant than dark malt. finishes quite dry and with some vanilla.
