UPDATED: JUN 4, 2011 I grew up in Pittsburgh, and this was the first beer that I was probably ever allowed to taste. If only I had something to compare it with at the time... Compared to nationwide macro brews, Iron City has more flavor, not extremely malty or bitter, but light and balanced without being watery.

(Aluminum Bottle) Tastes very much like my dads beer 25 years ago. I like the bottle/can. Nothing great, but drinkable.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2003 has a bad reputation as toxic industrial waste but it is actually a rather drinkable standard lager better than the big national brews. not something tolook for, but as I live in pittsburgh it is hard to avoid and i would rather give my money to a local company than one of the big national brewers. slighty sweet and with just enough malt to mask most of the adjuncts. decent hop presence in the finish works well as a boilermaker base - imp 'n arn in pittsburgh talk

Just another beer that copies the regular old American swill. The new aluminum bottle really did it for me. Pale gold, lots of fizz in the short head. Lots of gas and club soda. Corn syrup and the faintest of hop. I’m so happy I get to try beers like this. Soley a number. Wow.

Being a Pittsburgh native, I felt the need to give my two cents... Ok, yes Iron City holds no great complexity nor does it leave much on the palate. But, this is the beer that I think of in its simplest terms as if were served in a white can with black font that just had "BEER" written on it. The taste of the beer is what I think Homer Simpson tastes when he puts backa Duff and the reason all those people are smiling in marco beer commercials. Sorry, that was a bit overly sentimental...but us yinzers have an extraordinary amount of pride for things from our city...even if that happens to be crap beer.

grass and moldy cheese aroma. cremey palate, but it’s cheesy. for the most part this is grass, corn, bread, and cheese. weird. cool bottle, though--points for the aluminum beer bottle! however, this shit ain’t refreshing. it’s... a... thickish lager and i don’t like that, but it’s not bad... i just don’t know what the funk these guys were thinking when the recipe was being made! not what i expected!

This gold pour was a little heavier then its lighter counterpart. I actually thought the IC light was a little better but this was more flavorful.

Very pale yellow body with a large white head. Faint hops aroma, heavy metalic taste.
