I’ve been looking forward to Iron City for some time now. It’s classic bad beer. Smells like a can of chiles verdes for some reason. Corny, bland, underhopped. The light version is actually better. Rotting the livers of blue collar men since 1861.

Mechanicsville, VA was the last place I thought I’d be drinking Iron City. But low and behold there I was splitting $3 pitchers of Iron City with old college friends watching the NFL. Average beer at best.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2005 Keith-Well, for a heap lager I guess its ok. Metal "bottle" caught my eye. This beer is light on aroma and head. The taste is also weak with a hint of sweetness brought on by the malt. You get what you think you are going to get on this one.

Flavor starts out good, but has a fairly watery finish. I like my American Standards to be more crip then this was crisp. But my biggest knock on this beer is it's high carbonation.

Another Christmas beer for 2009. The Iron City beer is well known lager along the East Coast. Not much on taste and uniqueness. The head disappeared with no lacing. The beer is watery and not very good.

Typical cheap retro lager flavor, appearance, aroma and palate. Sad that this is what was dealt to the masses back in the day. Nothing to distinguish itself from Pabst, Schmidt, Hamms etc. Light golden appearance, tinny taste and aroma. No real malt or hop presence. Can imagine myself hoisting a few of these after shucking steeel though, would not want flavor to get in the way of quenching the thirst! Glad to see that the name was kept around.

This was do-able for a mass produced lager. Nothing offensive in the taste. Pretty clean and straight foward just nothing in the taste dept. I could see this for a night of swilling, if thats the goal

ALUMINUM BOTTLE I found this beer to be much less sweet than Stoneys which we drank side by side during the Steelers win. However it had much less flavor too. It’s not quite as bland as I remember from years past, My guess is most all macros have cranked it up a notch.
