1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Cobra (1076) - In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA - MAY 1, 2003
My uncle brought a couple of cases of this beer with him down from Pittsburgh awhile back. I drank a few with him, and it
wasn't such a bad beer. Wasn't a great beer either, but ok overall. It has a bit more flavor than Bud or other mega-swills. Pours
out a golden straw color, with a decent head that lasts awhile. It has a fair amount of hop aroma & taste in it, nothing to brag
about though. I had a pretty fair impression of it. Nothing I would go out of my way to buy though.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2004 Sweet, corny lager that's a distinctive regional favorite... the perfect beer to make boilermakers with for an ironworker (to drink after a hard day in the blasters). Too bad that's not Pittsburgh anymore...

Aluminum bottle in the Iron City. Pale gold, bubbly white head. Grainy, vegetal, a bit metallic. Thin bodied, not too harsh. Blah.

Bottle pours pale yellow, quite translucent, small milkish white head, spotty lacing, with subtle carbonation. Aroma is very corny, VERY corny. Flavor is fairly non-existant... light straw. Finish is really lacking, same straw but perhaps with a bit of sweet grass. I’m no real fan of Pale Lagers but this wasnt too bad... definitely a lawn mower beer, but not bad. Nothing to get excited about, thats for sure.   The aroma just killed me tho...

Very clear straw with a white bubbly head. Minimal malt aroma. Flavor is adjuncty but not too bad (at least compared to my expectations).Light fizzy body. Thanks Dan! (I guess)

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2005 Pours the expected golden yellow with a quickly fading white head. Grassy aroma. Taste is that of a typical macro lager: grainy with rice, corn. However, it does have a little more malty sweetness and body than BMC. Thin and fizzy on the palate but to it’s credit, there’s a hint of taste on the back end. Not good, but not offensive by any means either.

I can’t believe I paid $6.99 for a sixer of this. One would’ve been fine. Aluminum "bottle" does keep the beer cold on the way home, but the advantages end there. Pours thin, piss yellow, and with a small head. No lace to speak of around the glass. Aroma is a dull mix of hops and straw. Taste has some weird hybrid banana in there somewhere, but it is soon overpowered by the stale malt and dull hops.

This gold pour was a little heavier then its lighter counterpart. I actually thought the IC light was a little better but this was more flavorful.
