3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled on 9/24/2011. This spiced beer pours a medium orange gold color from a 750ml bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with good lacing and nice retention. Aroma is fruity and sweet, with some orange peel and other spiciness. A medium bodied spiced beer. The malts are fruity and sweet, orange and orange peel. The hops are earthy and spicy. Decent carbonation. Nice spiciness. The orange peel is very evident, there even seems to be a little bit of the orange oiliness going on as well. Hints of coriander and grain of paradise as well. Starts kind of sweet and finishes kind of dry and somewhat spicy. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet and spicy.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Coriander nose, with light apple and clove notes. Clear copper, medium yellow head. Surprisingly full bodied. Somewhat musty apple and overripe orange flavor. Cloves are present, but not in the foreground. Coriander finish. Well balanced and pretty well put together. Definitely not overspiced, and the base beer doesn’t strike me as substandard. Solid.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Iron Fist - Poured orange color with thinner head and mild carbonation. Orange spice in the nose. Bigger malt profile, still spice comes through and lingers. A fuller version of Belgian white but with less wheat.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Stone. It pours orange with a white head. The aroma is orange, coriander, cinnamon and nutmeg. A rather odd combination of winter and spring spices. The flavor is cinnamon, nutmeg, wheat, orange and coriander. An unusual brew, and not bad.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The label does not lie. This is a string brew. Spice notes of coriander prevail with a hearty malt backbone. Pours an orange brown. Aroma is minimal. Orange peeks through at the end pleasantly.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance: swirls with filmy bubbles atop a bright amber-orange body. Mostly clear but with a faint chill haze.
Nose: clean spiced character is pervasively seductive. Crunchy caramelized sweetness in the back rides atop crisp golden melba toast. Forestry. Potpourri underneath with floral and herbal qualities. Canned black cherries and mulberries for a bit of wild mustiness. Tobacco leaf underneath along with parchment paper. Complex and evolving.
Palate: clean with a medium-bodied weight and a dry finish. Leafy, dried herbs, parchment paper and dried tobacco leaf. Apple sweetness then bitterness of skin and nutty earthiness of stem. Solid warmth and spice in swallow and breath. Dried brush old and crumbly. Ginger and powdered cumin mingle with a mélange of floral and herbal notes.
Final Thoughts: easily for me the most intriguing beer of our mini-tasting. Never once was a single sip same as the next nor the previous. A truly amazing and evolving beer. I’d easily drink another.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very cloudy, dirty orange brown color. Doesn’t look appealing, huge huge orange peel and grains of paradise just everywhere. Way over the top which I don’t like, but nice smooth malty mouthfeel. Very low hops, which work well and ultimately make this a fairly palatable brew. Not sweet. Would rush to buy again, but doesn’t.
