COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Variety is the spice of life. Every once-in-a-while, you’ve gotta mix things up. Our catalyst for such an excursion out of the ordinary is, um, actually spice. Spice of Life uses traditional brewing spices in a way few dare to. Forsaking traditional ideas of subtlety and cowardly “Pinch of This, Pinch of That” brewing techniques, we embrace the flavors and launch them into a full frontal assault of delicious bitter orange peel and grains of paradise. Beautifully smooth coriander compliments and orange peel perfectly.

Capped 750 from South Bay Drug. Pours brilliant dark copper with a frothy 3 finger beige head. It has that orange peel aroma with some accompanying spices. With a little clove it could be a pommander. Med body. Flavor is very, very spicey. I think the clove showed up. It’s a really delicious things, and I’m glad I waited til close to Xmas. This is very strongly flavored. Brilliant. And not just the color.

Bottle ... Vero Beach “GET YOUR RUDOLPH ON” Throwdown… The appearance is of unfiltered apple cider with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The bouquet is a fruity, spicy mix of apple sauce, coriander, clove, cinnamon, sage and nutmeg. Full-bodied with tickling carbonation. Sweet and spicy; tangy and fruity. Spiced cider-like. Finishes spicy, sweet and tangy. Different. Nice.

On tap at the brewery. Pours with a hazy bronze body with a small off-white head. Aroma of lavender, perfume, potpourri. Very aromatic. Flavors are pretty strong. Coriander, lavender, rose hips, grains of paradise. Very floral and spicy. Maybe too spicy.

Bottle at the Funky 8, Brooklyn, NYC. Yep, definitely plenty of spices in this one. Some caramel sugars. Good and rounded character. Quite pleasant, really.

A: The pour is a dark golden-amber color with a nice white head. S: Lots of orange, especially in terms of the peel. The amount of orange aroma is actually impressive. There’s also a fair amount of coriander. Strangely enough, I also pick up some fennel and dill, don’t ask me why. T: A good earthy and grassy flavor with plenty of sweet oranges. The orange peel provides a bit of a bitterness and some more citrus flavor. A decent maltiness and some strangely warming flavors. M: the body is medium with a low to moderate level of carbonation. D: I wasn’t really expecting to like this one, but it was one of my favorite beers at this brewery. A nice blend of spice notes and the base beer.

Sampled on 9/24/2011. This spiced beer pours a medium orange gold color from a 750ml bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with good lacing and nice retention. Aroma is fruity and sweet, with some orange peel and other spiciness. A medium bodied spiced beer. The malts are fruity and sweet, orange and orange peel. The hops are earthy and spicy. Decent carbonation. Nice spiciness. The orange peel is very evident, there even seems to be a little bit of the orange oiliness going on as well. Hints of coriander and grain of paradise as well. Starts kind of sweet and finishes kind of dry and somewhat spicy. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet and spicy.

(750ml bottle thanks to bu11zeye) clearish deep amber, fine white bubbles. Nose of heavy spice, caramel, cream, rich nose. Taste of heavy spice, cream, cinnamon stick, a bit old tasting. Medium body, very spiced linger.
