COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Variety is the spice of life. Every once-in-a-while, you’ve gotta mix things up. Our catalyst for such an excursion out of the ordinary is, um, actually spice. Spice of Life uses traditional brewing spices in a way few dare to. Forsaking traditional ideas of subtlety and cowardly “Pinch of This, Pinch of That” brewing techniques, we embrace the flavors and launch them into a full frontal assault of delicious bitter orange peel and grains of paradise. Beautifully smooth coriander compliments and orange peel perfectly.

Sampled on 9/24/2011. This spiced beer pours a medium orange gold color from a 750ml bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with good lacing and nice retention. Aroma is fruity and sweet, with some orange peel and other spiciness. A medium bodied spiced beer. The malts are fruity and sweet, orange and orange peel. The hops are earthy and spicy. Decent carbonation. Nice spiciness. The orange peel is very evident, there even seems to be a little bit of the orange oiliness going on as well. Hints of coriander and grain of paradise as well. Starts kind of sweet and finishes kind of dry and somewhat spicy. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet and spicy.

Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of coriander, orange peel and paradise grain is quite sublime with light caramel malt notes and some residual sugars. Taste is also dominated by grain of paradise with some orange peel and some light coriander with light caramel malt. Body is about average with good carbonation. I really enjoyed this beer and probably the best I tried from this brewery with great balance between all ingredients.

Draught at TJ’s: Aroma of malt, flowers, spices, slight grains of paradise, and orange. Poured orange in color with a tiny, off-white head that lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer. Hazy. Not sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet and a tad bitter. Tastes of malt, spices, grains of paradise, and nothing else. Medium body. Lightly chalky texture. Average carbonation. Malt, spice finish is light to medium sweet and slightly bitter.

Bottle. Dark copper with thin lasting bright white head. Aroma is herbal, spicy and peppery; Saison like with a hint of citrus. Thin biere de garde lemon flavour. I liked it until I tasted it.

1st rating, 750 bottle. Pours a reddish amber, with off-white head. Sweet malt, nice fruity character, the orange and grains of paradise come through nicely, and lightly spicey. The flavors work well and the carbonation/body is soft and very drinkable. Nice beer, three so far from them, I think this is my favorite, but looking forward to trying more.

750 ml bottle via trade with doubleo, thanks Kyle. Poured a thick solid brownish/orange body under an average sized foamy white head that has some serious lasting power with a small slick of head that lasts the duration. Aroma is spicey and sweet with lots of orange juice, grains of paradise and a touch of corriander to add the spice, sadly though a bit of butter. The body is averagely carbonated with a medium mouthfeel and a rather quick dissipating aftertaste. Flavor is much like the aroma with orange and grains of paradise dominating along with lighter notes of corriander, a slight hint of mint leaves and wet bread. Solid effort.

Bottle. Hazy deep orange body with traces of smoke and a medium creamy white head. Very nice. Nose is red berries, clove, coriander, straw, hints of pale malts and citrus. Taste is citric peel, caramel, clove, all spice, coriander, wet grass, herbs and hints of white pepper, straw and wood. Medium to full body and carbonation. Lovely stuff really, spicy and complex, yet very drinkable.
