COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
THAT’S IT! We’re throwing down the gauntlet. Literally. If you haven’t tried craft brewed beer before, put the bottle you’re current-ly holding down and start somewhere else. This is not a good place to start. The Gauntlet is one seriously intense beer that should be reserved for only the boldest beer revolutionaries in the world. The inordinate amount of hop flavor and aroma that radiates from this creamy, froth covered liquid is enough to make this Brewmaster blush. If that sounds good to you, you can safely break your time on this earth down into 2 categories; the time before you tried The Gauntlet, and the time after. If not, the $5.00 50 packs are on the left

On cask. End of the cask...cloudy with suprising carbonation. Low lacing, brown. Mouthfilling body with dried fruit notes and almost belgian qualities. De-licious.

Cloudy orange with a white head. Citrus aroma complimented by bread malt. Toasted malt and hop flavors are fairly mild. There’s a little funk in the finish. Not bad but unusual.

Small, off white head with good retention and nice lacing. Murky, orange hued brew. Faintly fruity nose, light peachy notes with some biscuity malts. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, distracting astringency. Metallic notes, minerally, slight pine and that damn astringency just keeps annoying the hell outta me. Dry, astringent finish. Why is this in a 750 anyways? Just too much. Not necessary. Bottle from statelineliquors.

Bottle. Nice-looking muddy orange ue. T/he head is but a wisp but hangs on for dear life. The aroma is caged and subtle, but the beer drinks with a distinctly earthy essence, finishing with a very cloying dry-hop bite. In between is a relatively easy-going beer with an organic base, keeping the 9.5% ABV well disguised. (#5419, 11/26/2014)

Thanks to jbtice0315 for this beer - cheers Jesse! No bottle date info. Received in Feb 2011, about a week ago. A: Pours a nice blood orange ale with significant two finger head which lingers on as a single finger of fine whipped, yellow head. Evident carbonation from bottom. lacing like a corset! S: Piney, resinous, grapefruit. Not too sweet like many IIPA’s I have had lately. Caramel malts shine through appropriately. This nose reminds me of an Impy Red. Nice. T: Nicely bittered, caramel based malt backbone. Pine, resin, orange and grapefruit rinds. Hints of dark fruits. Just the lightest feel of oak. M: Medium feel, with high and active carbonation. Velvet feel on the finish. Very nice. D: Very drinkable beer. If this were available in my area, I would advocate for it fervently. As such, I advocate here. Very good beer, I think even as an IIPA, this would be excellent at 6 months out. The malt is well balanced enough for that. Serving type: bottle 02-22-2011

Glowing ember pour with a fluffy eggshell crown. Rings of lacing remain in the glass. Candied citrus, sugar coated orange slices, resin, caramel, and alcohol. Beautiful beer that doesn’t quite hold up in other areas. A bit sweet for the style and wasn’t expecting the forward alcohol hit.

Tap at Victoria Gastro Pub. Pours clear orange with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is pine, resin, and citrus hops with biscuit malt and pear esters. Flavor is heavy hops and bitterness, somewhat pithy with light malt and fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

From tap! Pours an orange color with a thick head. Aroma is of oranges and malt. Taste is hoppy with a slight malt backbone. An ok imperial ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap 9 oz. pour at the Roasthouse Pub in Frederick, MD. Very hazy, tarnished copper red with an off-white head and very good lacing. Aroma of pine, peaches, caramel and floral hops. Taste of herbal hops, pine, floral hops, alcohol, mild citrus and some fairly deeply buried caramel. Medium/full body and medium/high carbonation. Overall, this DIPA is a bit heavy on bitter herbs and alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

25.8 oz bottle - pours cloudy, hazy orange-crimson with bubbly white head, lasting and full. Big piney, orange, resiny notes on the nose. Good biscuit notes. More orange and resin on the taste, medium-full bodied with long finish. Tasty, makes me sneeze. Yes.
