In case you’re one of the 3 people that haven’t figured it out yet, we at Iron Fist are fans of everything unfettered by and silly notions of "tradition". So our latest insurrection is a two-for. We brewed a huge Belgian style Trippel and hopped the (expletive deleted) out of it. Being the counterculturalists that we are, we decisively chose to use the finest imported European hops we could get our hands on rather than the ubiquitous West Coast style varieties. We even threw in some varieties so new they still have that new hop smell. A robust malt character helps balance this truly one-of-a-kind brew.
Brewed for KnB Wine Cellars 3rd Anniversary.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy deep ruby copper color with a 2 finger dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big pear, apple, lemon zest, orange peel, tangerine, grapefruit, light banana, clove, pepper, caramel, honey, candi sugar, toast, floral, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hop, malt, and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of big pear, apple, grapefruit, tangerine, orange peel, citrus rind, grape, caramel, honey, candi sugar, toast, clove, pepper, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of pear, apple, citrus, citrus peel, caramel, toast, honey, candi sugar, clove, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice balance and complexity of citrus hop, malt, and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a good malt/yeast balance and minimal cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very slick and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good Belgian strong pale ale. All around nice balance and complexity of hop, malt, and yeast ester flavors; and quite smooth to sip on for the huge ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle: Poured a deep orangey color ale with a medium size foamy head with light retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of citrus hops with quite a bit of residual sugar with light spicy notes. Taste is also dominated by citrus notes with light spicy yeast notes and an overly sweet aftertaste. Body is quite full with carbonation that is a bit too low for style and no apparent alcohol. Original concept of this beer appears interesting but lack of attenuation and overly sweet finish ruins it for me.

750 mL bottle - pours ruddy, cloudy, red-orange with nice, full, white head, lasting. Big fragrant aromas of candied fruit, citrus, peaches, and good yeast. Creamy plate, with decent orange fruit, numbing bitterness at the finish that fills the mouth. Long finish that continues to change. Very nice and drinkable at high ABV.

750 mL bottle from Tasty Beverage Co., Raleigh, NC. Dark orange pour with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of Belgian candi sugar and light citrus hops. The sweetness hits the tongue first but then finishes with a healthy amount of pineapple and grapefruit. The booziness lingers long after each sip. Truthfully I am not a huge fan of Belgian-style IPAs for the most part. It was my error that saw this on the shelf as Triple IPA rather than Tripel IPA. However, in this case it was a nice error. Good beer.

Aroma of spice and fruit, I got pear and banana as well as a bit of the alcohol. The is a clear amber color with a light quickly dissipating head. The taste is very sweet but followed by some bitterness. There is flavor of sweet mango, and citrus and pine. The beer is medium bodied and little sticky an d flat. The beer is very interesting smells like a Belgian and tastes like an IPA. Unfortunately it is cloyingly sweet and a little too boozy for my tastes.

Hazy golden orange pour with a small ivory crown. Citrus, honey, alcohol. That’s pretty much it. Not terribly dynamic or complex. Alcohol crosses the eyes and a bit aggressive. Quick recommendation...don’t light a match! Flash fires are dangerous. Would re-approach this one.

Bomber at a bottle share. Pours cloudy orange with a white head. Nose is spice; flavor follows with earth, fruit, alcohol. Medium bodied. Not great.
