COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In case youíre one of the 3 people that havenít figured it out yet, we at Iron Fist are fans of everything unfettered by and silly notions of "tradition". So our latest insurrection is a two-for. We brewed a huge Belgian style Trippel and hopped the (expletive deleted) out of it. Being the counterculturalists that we are, we decisively chose to use the finest imported European hops we could get our hands on rather than the ubiquitous West Coast style varieties. We even threw in some varieties so new they still have that new hop smell. A robust malt character helps balance this truly one-of-a-kind brew.
Brewed for KnB Wine Cellars 3rd Anniversary.

Bottle from Sproutís: Liquid appeared as a dark natural honey color and created a thick frothy head up top. Aroma is predominately yeast perhaps a Belgian strain while a delicate scent of toffee like malts and earthy hops add to mix. The drink is refined with a soft palate that doesnít seem to be strong in carbonation like most other Belgian strongs. Flavor is mostly fruity with dashes of spice but also adds a bit of an astringent taste of medicine. Not sure if this bottle has met its shelf life already or itís the funky combination of ingredients, but this comes across a bit too harsh for my liking.

Tap. Pours a cloudy amber color with a white head. Aroma is of grapefruit, some spice like pepper, candied sugar and pine. The flavor follows the nose with lots of bitter grapefruit and pine, some pepper, candied sugar, syrup and sweet malt. The body is medium with an oily mouth feel. Overall a solid brew.

Amber in color, clear with a thin head. Big Hops aroma and flavor. Rich thick Belgian yeast lingers in aroma and flavor also. Nice beer.

Bottle. Color is interesting, not even ball park for a tripel (or for most west coast IPAs). Deep amber, nearly a bronze-brown (WTH). Large and lasting, lightly tan head. Good lace. Aromas are of isoamyl acetate, brown sugar, alcohol, persimmons, baked apple, dark fruits, lightly grassy with some herbal hop character. Flavors are boozy, leathery, apple, light nearly applewood bacon like not (odd phenol/ester combo perhaps?), medium bitter, lots of esters, lightly grassy, medium herbal hop character. Medium to lively bubbles, dry and boozy.

Capped 750 from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. Fred is on top of new releases. Pours cloudy, dark, somewhat ruddy, amber. Decent creamy beige head. Aromas of yeast/spice, kandi, light pitted fruit, citrus. Canít smell alcohol, but I get a burn deep in the trachea. Full bodied. The alcohol is present, but more a flavor enhancement than an issue. Flavor is yeast/spice, pretty roasted malt, hint of chocolate, definitely light pitted fruit, and pretty sure about citrus. And thereís sort of an overarching perfume/floral. Which maybe is a combo of alcohol and fruit esters. Fairly complex ale. The mouth feel is fantastic, and the flavors persist into the finish. This is a great sipper. Tho Iím gonna do the bottle. It is a very tasty ale.

Draft. It had mild notes belgian spice, bread and hop. A strong alcohol taste of the tip of the tongue. A nice brew.

Draught at TJís: Aroma of citrus, oranges, slight Belgian yeast, and some tropical fruit. Poured deep orange in color with a small to medium-sized, creamy, dense, tan/beige head that diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, as well as around the edges. Cloudy. Opaque. Very slightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of Belgian yeast, hops, bubblegum, fruit, and some citrus. Medium body. Very dry texture. Average carbonation. Belgian yeast, hops, fruit, finish is lightly sweet, light to medium bitter, and very dry. 12%ABV completely hidden throughout.
