In case you’re one of the 3 people that haven’t figured it out yet, we at Iron Fist are fans of everything unfettered by and silly notions of "tradition". So our latest insurrection is a two-for. We brewed a huge Belgian style Trippel and hopped the (expletive deleted) out of it. Being the counterculturalists that we are, we decisively chose to use the finest imported European hops we could get our hands on rather than the ubiquitous West Coast style varieties. We even threw in some varieties so new they still have that new hop smell. A robust malt character helps balance this truly one-of-a-kind brew.
Brewed for KnB Wine Cellars 3rd Anniversary.

Bottle @ The Stouts Tasting II. Ta Ken. The pour’s deep amber with a tiny head. The aroma’s peach, some farmhouse yeast. Sour patch kids. Apples. The taste is dusty white grape. More belgian yeast. Cotty candy sweetness. A bit ruddy and heavy handed. Medium body, soft carbonation. Overall, this wasn’t served by being consumed alongside a bunch of legitimately excellent beers.

Bottle at THE stouts tasting part 2, thanks to Ken. It pours cloudy deep orange with a small off-white head. The nose is spice, celery, pear, apple, light tartness and icing sugar. The taste is toast, earth, hay, sweet pear, apple, banana, spice, alcohol warmth, sugar, pepper and honey with a pretty hot finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Sweet and hot are not what I’m looking for (in a beer).

Stouts and Porters II. Cloudy amber beer, off white head. Palate is light and a little dry. Mild fine carbonation. Light sweet dry malts, fair amount of sweet aniseed alcohol. Sugary sweet dried fruits and a does of paint stripping ethanol. Has a kind of ramped up Tripel sweetness here but there is way too much obvious alcohol.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2013 Bottle shared at Bruce’s, London during The Stouts Tasting, Pt. II - many thanks to Ken-O. Pours hazy, red-gold with a modest, foamy white head. Lots of yeasty, sugary malts in the nose, suggestions of banana, candi sugar. Huge sweet flavor, lots of alcohol, some bitter pine needles and grass, sugary dough, yeast. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warm to hot finish, bubblegum, sugary doughy bread, light white wood, syrupy sugars, dry banana. It is way too sweet and heavy; not a joy to drink during the twilight of a big stouts tasting, but I suppose there is a time and place for a beast like this.

Pours a cloudy amber that produces a thick off-white head. Aroma of toast, caramel, alcohol and honey. The flavor has lots of sweetness and bitterness in perfect balance. Medium palate. Hides the alcohol very well. Nice beer.

Pours a murky brown. Strong hop smell with some burnt caramel notes. Taste is by no means a typical triple. Way to hoppy and the alcohol is overly prevalent. The hops dominate the flavor the yeast provides. Never again but I’m sure the hop heads will like it

Bottle pours a murky amber mess with a thin tan head of foam. The modest aroma has dried malt syrup sticky pine resin and a touch of light skinned fruity esters. The taste is similar and starts almost neutral before it rockets into resiny pine hops and then the pine fades and leaves just the bitter hop resiny notes and a sticky malt thickness behind. This big ass beer seems almost restrained / mellowed with age, possibly. Nice sipper for sure.

750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy orange amber with a small, rapidly disappearing white head. The aroma was sticky citrus, sweet caramel, herbal notes with some alcohol coming through. The flavor had sweet caramel malt, sticky citrus, ripe fruits, earthy, with the alcohol showing a bit. I can’t really place it, but something about the combination of everything didn’t completely work for me.
